Always figured he was some kind of low caste worker. Like maybe some kind of industrial worker who did a lot of hauling and maybe some metalwork. I'd imagine that if the caste system allowed for it (and even if it didn't) he probably took a few odd jobs here and there, loading and unloading shit for whoever needed it because money is money so whoooo cares? NOT HIM.
Probably fought in the pits too, since apparently that was a thing a lot of Decepticons did before the War in aligned continuity? Not often enough to get any sort of reputation or renown, though. Just enough to get a feel and like for beating the crap out of things and the taste of VICTORY.
