My inbox will regret this later.

So I've been ogling everyone's username all over this game, and some of them are actually kind of interesting, but I know nothing about the canon and am too lazy/don't have the means to find out. So it's time for

USERNAME MEME

1. Post with your account names.
2. State why you chose the username. Is it an inside fandom joke? A horrible pun? Canon relevant? Go nuts.

Man, 4 minutes to 9AM EST is the perfect time to post this.

Tucker gets his/her username from a quote in the Episode 92: Where Credit is Due (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ml_naWhnfk). When Tex mentions that she needs a hardline to move Sheila from the tank to the recently crashed ship, Tucker comes hauling ass out of a the base and tells her that he "has a hardline Tex can use. Bow chicka bow wow!"

Bowchickabowwow was already taken IIRC, but I was playing him in Amat before, and hurr hurr has a hardline could be doublespeak for erection. Lame, I know.

Pretty much taken right from this iconic scene (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwBmPiOmEGQ) in 2001: A Space Odyssey. I have another one named [livejournal.com profile] takeastresspill, which is more subtle but OH WELL.

A combination of his being a Night Fury (http://howtotrainyourdragon.wikia.com/wiki/Night_Fury) and this shitty meme (http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/why-so-serious).

Jack has to follow any order prefaced by the phrase "Would you kindly..."

So...

Hurrr. So clever.

This username describes both his goal, and what happens to him in the film, and I really just kinda...lucked into it.

...Sam's is better, though. ;p

This is just her name in canon, hurr hurr borrrring.

W-we can't all be winners. T_T

While Cortana's basically being mind raped by this handsome devil (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Gravemind), she spouts off various quotes related to the Halo books (specifically Fall of Reach) and greater lore. One of the quotes is "Don't look at me! I'm just my mother's shadow!", a reference to the fact that she was created from the brain of her "mother", Dr. Catherine Halsey.

It is very unfunny. :|

Dismembers, as in the dismemberment of her prey items!!

[identity profile] enough-bodybags.livejournal.com 2011-01-08 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
[livejournal.com profile] enough_bodybags! comes from one of Medic's quotes: "Eins, zwei, drey...Ugh, I do not zhink ve brought enough bodybags!"

...Though, I have a better RED Medic account name elsewhere. [livejournal.com profile] shoothimfirst.

"In computer programming, cohesion is a measure of how strongly-related the functionality expressed by the source code of a software module is."

"Social cohesion is a term used in social policy, sociology and political science to describe the bonds or "glue" that bring people together in society, particularly in the context of cultural diversity."

Jorge's call sign, herp.

[identity profile] dimidiate.livejournal.com 2011-01-08 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
Etymology: < L dimidiatus, pp. of dimidiare, to divide into halves < dimidium, a half < dis-, apart, from + medius, mid
transitive verb dimidiated -·at′ed, dimidiating -·at′·ing
Archaic: to halve

Nue are always born in pairs, but Nue was separated from his twin--his other half.

Harpocrates (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harpocrates) is the god of silence. The shadow is, primarily, a silent creature, totally unable to create sound without outside help (ie the voices and noises it echoes).

[identity profile] qcksilverspear.livejournal.com 2011-01-08 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
In canon, she is fucking fast and fluid, so I wanted to reference that, hence 'quicksilver', and then the 'spear' is pretty self-explanatory :p I may change it if I can think of something better, but it's sort of been growing on me.

[identity profile] chttrbox-recon.livejournal.com 2011-01-08 08:24 am (UTC)(link)
DO I REALLY NEED TO EXPLAIN THIS ONE?!

[identity profile] manipul8trix.livejournal.com 2011-01-08 11:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yes.

At length and in great detail whilst going off on several tangents that last for minutes at a time. :I

Alrighty, then.

[TAKES A DEEP BREATH]

Well this was one of those usernames that just popped into my head when I was starting to fillout the application and go through cannon reference and I've always liked the word 'chatterbox' I have no idea where or how it originated but it is a really fascinating word and I like how it sounds I tend to do a lot with sounds it really comes from me being a musician I mean I've been playing cello since I was ten and I went to college for it and everything so a lot of that musicy shit just got ingrained in my head you know and now I'll be able to give a much more thorough ciritque on the soundtrack of a movie as opposed to the actual movie like you know what movie had one of the best soundtracks if you asked me I love the music for "The Village" it was so creepy I was already freaked out from the opening credits just because of the music but on the other hand I really didn't like the soundtrack to SpiderMan 3 but that's of course because Elfman and Raimi had a falling out and Christopher Young was called in to finish the music for the movie and I love him as a composer he's done some really good stuff but I think it was a really bum situation for him because he had to use Elfman's themse that were already establihed from Spiderman 1 and then add his own that were at the same time similar enough to mesh with Elfman's and yet be something new entirely and it just felt jarring to me I could totally tell the two different styles but then again that's just the musician in my anyway Jun's a chatterbox so that's why I went with that and he's obviously a recon among other things I mean I probably could have gone with like chatterbox sniper or chatterbox three or noble chatterbox or something like that but I liked the way chatterbox recond sort of has a particular musicality to it - there with the music shit again - and then of course it didn't all fit so I had to get creative with underscores and dropping vowels and all that fun stuff I tried to make it legible so people can at least glance at it and see 'ah, that's 'chatterbox' I hate it when I'm looking at a username and I can't figure it out which doens't happen often because I like word and wordplay but sometimes it can get a little confusing kind of like LOLCats and LOLSpeak I mean I can understand I can has cheezburger but really when people intentionally mispell EVERY SINGLE WORD as GORTESQUELY AS THEY CAN it gets a little tiring you know I've always wanted to make a website devoted to 'literate lolcats' where we could still have the can has but without the headache of CAEN HAZ bullshit.

and that's why I chose chttrbox_recon as Jun's username,
