I have played that game! Steam had it discounted. But only some of it, because I got fed up with attacking some gang members in an out of hte way place and it triggering everyone they ever knew from all over the city to suddenly know exactly where you are and escend upon your location!
Alas!
I liked its ability to choose your gender/appearance better than the GTA games, but that part of it made it a bit of a chore.
and that is hard when you're lower level/ high notoriety. Though if you eve play again, if you run out of their territory, go to a safehouse, or go to uhh... One of the drive throughs, forgive and forget, they'll stop chasing you. Customizing was great. Especially when you can go through an epic cutscene as a buff tall male in lacy drag.
It's one of those things which GTA somehow did realistically, if memory serves right (or at least, gave only a certain amount of time for it). I'll probably try to reinstall it, some day. Even if the tutorial is buggered, because it won't let me crouch. DX
Of course, soon after, I got into the amazement which is 'Mafia 2' and loved that far more. c:
It was. There's something where it apaprently doesn't recognise certain keys or something. I have a feeling that the tutorial would've given me certain items which would've made the alterantive I was forced to choose; a straight escape off the island, a lot easier. It was horridly frustrating.
M2 is glorious! Unless you didn't get further than the World War 2 prologue? Because that's a little bit generic. But I found just walking through the streets while it was snowing some of the most immersively atmospheric stuff I've seen on a computer game. :)
Yeah... sadly, that happens a lot with games that are usually meant for XBAWKS and they try to port it to the PC- same with Bully, which was great but shit on PC. I wish all companies were like Valve support-wise.
I played through the prologue, but got bored and gave it to my brother- and then later on I messed around on his mostly finished game and still didn't find it fun. It was really pretty though!
And, ow, I thought of getting 'Bully' a few times. Was mostly actually put off by the fact you can't choose your character's gender/look, but this has convinced me not to get that!
Omg no, don't not get Bully though! I mean, if you only have PC... then yeah. But if you have any other console? Yes. Yes get it get it with the speed of a million speedy things. One of my favorite games of all time. I think I have at least three copies of the game across different systems. (Even the PC version, but I got it for $5 haha)
And you can dress Jimmy up. :'D It's sort of like how the new GTA was, and I think San Andreas too if I remember correctly, where you're given a certain character but you can dress them up however.

A-actually I tried Mafia 2 and. Hated it for some reason? I don't know why! Lack of cross-dressing and gangster fabulous, perhaps.
