Shockwave's first impression of the canine was no more than he was extremely dumb and rather dirty. Not to mention he did a bunch of illogical things which made no sense no matter which way he thought about them.

This view on Dug slowly began changing as he spent more time with the dog and began learning more about him. The fact that his collar allows him to speak is a plus, even if what he says often makes little sense. Also Dug is capable of using the toilet, thus disposing of his own waste. This is truly a highlight as it's much better than Soundwave's previous pets which required cleaning up after. Finally Dug is very good at hunting down small animals and bringing them back to Shockwave, providing and endless supply of test subjects. What more could the scientist ask for.

While Dug still does things that bothers Shockwave he's far more tolerable of him, and has even begun to like him. He does enjoy Dug's company, even if he will never admit it, and the canine sleeping on the bed with him when Soundwave isn't around isn't a choice, it's a must.

Basically Dug is the best dog he could ever ask for, and he loves him, but will never say it out loud. Only through cuddles and extra treats.
