It's pretty simple and fun, folks. This is how this works!

She doesn't write anything after that.
It takes a lot of thinking, of crying, of talking with Rose, but eventually he gets his shit together.
She trusted him to fix this, and that's what he's going to do. They're going to win this damn game, and they're all going to be alive and happy. He doesn't really care that he won't be there to see that. A Dave is a Dave, right?
He has a lot of time now, all of it in fact, and after a while playing the game becomes so routine he doesn't need to think about it. So when he's not talking with Rose or being harassed by Calsprite, and that's most of the time, he just thinks.
She said she loves him. How should he take that? She has always been affectionate with all her friends, sowing hearts in her text like seeds in her garden. She would have said that to any of them, he's certain. But it's easy, so very easy, to think that she meant it as something more, as something special only for him. Does he love her? Yes, he thinks, he does.
You can't possibly hold her to this ridiculous ideal version of her in your mind, Rose informs him.
You're setting yourself up for disappointment.
Rose may be right. He doesn't care. He won't be around long enough to be disappointed. And even if he is...
He won't be disappointed, he decides. The real Jade might not be as perfect as the one in his mind, but he will live like she is. He won't let her down.
