"They shot me," He says it so plainly. It's been a week since he's been back and it was the first thing he's said to Skyfire other than mild greetings.

"Goddamned fucking. Unitologists..." Even if some of them has been okay. The goddamned church and government. It makes him want to throw up just thinking about it. He can't even really bring himself to think straight. Skyfire just happened to be there when he finally couldn't hold it in anymore.

He doesn't even care when he feels the shuttle embrace him gently.

"They just- fucking Noah-"

"Religion is a dangerous game for many. Those who have the best intentions and those who use it for personal gain. The idea of it is... is good, but it is rarely practiced as such," Skyfire speaks slowly to him, tightening his grip, "It pains me to know that they neigh control your world. But these things... they all fall eventually. One way or another, you'll be avenged."

"Oh, it's just not fair, is it? Isn't it your own fault you're a terrible excuse of a life-form? I think it's called... Stockholm Syndrome? Where you start enjoying your imprisonment. So how is this annnnnny different?"

The box is too small.

"But I at least left you a present. Go on. It's stuck in the door. See how nice I am? You've always been my favorite, Charlie. Or should I say Skyfire? You dirty little liar. No wonder nobody loves you."

He has to strain and twist, reaching for the little scrap of paper stuck in the door of the box. That's when he feels it. It's alarmingly cold, and as it fills it makes his skin hurt.

Freezing water. Slowly filling.

His breathing picks up.

Not again.

"Something the matter, old chum? Thought you might like a little swim."

"Fuck you!"

"My, my. Such language. You really are becoming a scummy human, aren't you? What would they think if they heard that from you? You're so clean. I bet you wanted to be clean for Soundwave, didn't you? You could have just slid in there and snatched him up from your rival. You'd have been justified, you know. Why, speaking of which, you' had better look at your present before it's too late."

He finally manages to reach the paper as the water creeps up his waist, and his legs are numb from the cold. His chest heaves with panic as he unfolds it. A simple photo of Soundwave. Turning it over reveals Starscream on the back. The bitterness stings worse than the icy water that's now reached his chest, but he clings to it. It's all he has. As he takes one last breath, the water fills the chamber, and everything is a blur of fear.

Again.

It's happening again.

Eventually his lungs give way and he inhales the stinging, cold water. It's unimaginable pain, but his body won't let him die. It's just the pain. Pain and fear. He's going to be trapped in this freezing prison.

The "sun" here is scorching, but they're both comfortable. The wind rushing past keeps it from becoming intolerable. He flies high and slow, and it seems like this place could go on forever. Even if it does have the boarders of the station, a little wishful thinking makes it so.

Thane is lithe, neigh weightless in his arms and if he didn't squirm occasionally, Skyfire might forget he's carrying him as they slide across the desert zone. Just something for the drell mostly, though he prefers the warm climate himself as well. Thane is silent for the most part, or maybe Skyfire just doesn't hear him over the air rushing by.

Who knows, maybe this method of travels is awkward for him. For many people it is a bit strange to be carted around in the arms of a large albino man.

When they finally reach a rocky outcropping with high, sandblasted cliffs, Skyfire lets Thane slip down onto his feet before landing next to him.

Nothing is actually said as they look out across the vast desert. Something about the long stretches of flatness is comforting. Room to fly and to simply exist. He squints his eyes and it seems real.

There is nothing bad in this place. Just sand and the imitation sky.

That's good enough.

It's been a long time since Thane has actually has someone after him in such a way, admittedly? It was a bit disturbing the sheer amount of tenacity Karrie had pursued him with.

"Hey."

"Yes?"

"Hey."

"Yes."

"Hey."

"What?"

"What'cha thinkin' about?"

Thane holds in a sigh, if only because her wry smile speaks to the fact that she knows exactly how irritating she's being.

"Just drell stuff," He answers dryly with a hint of a smirk.

"Oh. That's cool. So hey I think we should like. Date."

"I'll have to give it some thought, Karrie. I told you before. Just give me some time."

"Okay yeah that's cool."

A pause. A saucy grin stretches her features.

"Soon."

Thane's lips draw a tight line.

Concerning.

"We were all their toys."

As they walk down the fucking pristine garden zone, it seems so out of place for both of them. Has Isaac and Altman been here, they'd just be a damn set, wouldn't they?

The feeling that all of them. All of them had been played like fiddles is more than a little discouraging. The level of manipulation is appalling.

"I should have seen it coming," Vandal says as he avoids eye contact, "They used every single fucking one of us. It never felt right. I should have just refused."

"If not you, then some other sucker," Alejandro utters bitterly as they look at a blooming tree.

"Don't you think it's ironic?"

"I think a lot of things are fucking ironic. And I hate irony."

"Well I mean... getting stuck here? This was our only way out."
