the song drabble meme

It's pretty simple and fun, folks. This is how this works!

( 01 ) Have a playlist ready! Don't use all your songs--try and narrow it down a little.
( 02 ) Let everyone know how many songs you're working with. Also, which characters you would be willing to write about.
( 03 ) Others tag your post, picking a character or pairing or friendship or familial relationship or whatever, and then choose a number from your list.
( 04 ) Write a drabble related to that song, using that/those character(s)!

Take as long as you need; there's no time limits here!
And here's some helpful HTML to make it pretty!

She watches him as Thane beats the man as furiously as a krogan on blood rage; Samara is distant, studying, as Thane coldly mutters into the informant's ear, demanding information on Asphodel.

Samara hasn't been here long. A week, at best, and it hasn't taken long to see how different Thane has become.

Blood is splattered across Thane's hands and the front of his jacket. His eyelid twitches in a way that shows he's distracted, forcing himself to remain focused on the task at hand.

"Thane," she states. The drell turns his head to look at her, a little more cold and distant than she remembers him ever being, even before Shepard had recruited him. "Perhaps it is not any of my business, but should you wish to speak more openly to me--"

"I cannot." Thane doesn't snap at her. When he speaks, true, he is at a distance, but he is always respectful towards her. "I... am sorry, I can't--" He glances away, as if watching something else for a moment. "No. I do not think it is wise at all, Samara."

"I see. Then permit me to say this: should I find you performing something unjust, I will be forced to intervene."

Thane lowers his head, his body trembling a moment before he just nods. "Of course. I would never hold it against you."

Something like regret forms in the back of her throat; Samara hopes the day will not come when she is compelled to kill a friend, for whatever has happened.
