1. Comment in the post listing your characters.
2. Other will reply with the name of one of your characters
3. You list three things that are your headcanon for that character.
Alternatively, someone can ask you a specific question about the headcanon you have for a certain character. This gives you the option to answer questions pertaining to certain subjects, or think about a question you hadn't considered/answered with your headcanon yet.
There's no limit to the topics or the amount of times someone can ask about a character. It can be huge things like how their life was before their canon, or something smaller like their first time making sweet sweet... um, baked goods for the family. As long as you think it's something that is accurate to your character but it isn't in their canon.

* Re: The sugar thing. I asked Zero if his Protoman can eat, and the answer was yes, but he couldn't exactly taste things. Instead, Protoman just analyzes the components of the food, so to him "flavor" registers more like "This has 4 grams of sugar and 2 grams of fat and 6 grams of carbs." His system is then designed to turn that into energy. Since Megaman was designed more to be a son than a war machine (even though he's also the latter), I figured he'd have a slightly better sense of taste. He can only taste sour, bitter, salt, sweet, and savory... as completely discrete sensations. So he doesn't get any complexity from anything, and a lot of food is just... food (and he still gets the data registry that Proto does)
So why the "omg i love sweet"? First, sweet was the easiest to program and so it's the most intense for him (sour, bitter, savory, and salt barely register and aren't very fun anyway), and second raw sugar is the thing his system processes most efficiently into energy for his internal reactor, so it's like an instant rush of delicious, delicious energy.
This also means that he doesn't discriminate. A spoonful of sugar to him is identical to a spoonful of nutella, it's just that the latter also comes with a bunch of stuff about how it's got fats in it while the former is just MMMM DELICIOUS.
* His favored instrument is the keyboard and the synthesizer; the first thing he did upon figuring out his wearable was programmable was to make himself a holographic keytar, because fuck yeah. He can also play guitar and he sings. His voice is generated from readings taken from Dr. Light's voice, so he sounds like a younger, less hoarse version of his father; Protoman's is the same, though after Proto defected to Wily's side I imagine he had some mods done? Either way, Lightfam all sounds like the same guy pitch-shifting his voice. Har.
* I will have to ask Zero about this, but in *my* headcanon, the color preference for blue was deliberately coded in. Protoman likes red and gold because Light was designing a war machine, a liberator of mankind; he wanted something bright and bold and striking, and red is also a color traditionally associated with liberators, rebels, and war (see: french revolution). With Megaman, however, he was trying to build a son (albeit one whose pattern was based on a war machine oops), thus a cooler, gentler color. Thus he has an automatic subconscious preference for blue clothing! Whee.

there is ZIP in canon to support any of that btw

I had thsi like
page long response explaining how Mega cries, and the ways in which it's actually pretty easy to tell he's not human if you're paying attention, but then the bus internet ate it :(

not about the bus internet though :(

SO
Megaman has lots of feelings and emotions, and he IS designed to cry! He does not, however, cry normal tears; it's a clear mineral oil instead, the same stuff which lubricates his eyes, because salt water = HORRIBLE for machines always. He tries not to cry though because UNMANLY and he's a MANLY MAN ssrly
(no he's not he's a fifteen year old boy with a tank for a body)
SO HIS ROBOT NESS. you CAN mistake him for human at a distance, but get up close enough and it's kind of noticeable. Not enough to trigger uncanny valley stuff (hopefully?) but like... his eyes glow! And his pupils have tiny camera apertures in them. And if he wears short sleeve shirts you can see that his elbow joints are rather doll like, and there are seams up and down his forearms where they transform into, y'know, guns. And there's various jacks and ports up and down his spine and torso. Annd if he's wearing shorts the same doll joint thing happens with his knees and ankles.
He does feel pain! His tolerance for it is much higher than a normal human's though; it's calibrated to go off when he's in danger of breaking something, and cold doesn't bother him unless it's REALLY fucking cold; same with heat (it has to be something like forty below zero or twenty above a hundred farenheight before he starts to notice. ... that was off the top of my head and probably not accurate at all. Either way.) Uh, he also gets itchy first when he needs to refill his oil reserves, and if he doesn't then it starts to get painful, because yeah. He can take a punch from a human and pretty much not give a damn because I'm pretty sure you could throw him trhough a concrete wall and he'd survive.
He breathes, and breathing serves a purpose---that's the way his systems keep from overheating. Light thought it was more elegant (and human-like) to have it be breath rather than a cooling fan. Thus, he breathes harder when he's over-exerted himself, because he needs to cool his systems down faster.
While he's reasonably waterproof, if he's submerged he can "drown" but it takes for fucking ever and depends entirely on how warm the water is, because breathing water doesn't really help much with cooling him off properly (water is too viscous, even if its specific heat is higher. i think it's specific heat), also just. Rust is a thing that could happen even if most of him is designed to be waterproof, and better not to tempt fate. NO SWIMMING FOR HIM.
this also means that while he can survive in vacuum longer than most humans, he is still in serious danger of overheating if he stays in too long, because he has no way to get heat away from his systems. Overheating just causes him to emergency shut down. He's fine if you reboot him later, unless he's in a situation that would actually damage his circuitry, but that's why his reactor completely *shuts down* if he gets too hot.
UMM... he has a heartbeat, and again it's just caused by the particular design of his machinery. It sounds human enough though.
idk /babbles.

* The hacking done to SHODAN was a LOT more than just "removing her ethical constraints." Diego wanted her basically to be corrupted so she'd take bribes, so the Hacker introduced a lot of clauses about self-centeredness and arrogance and ambition and desire, because you need those things to even give a fuck about bribes. The problem is that SHODAN is ridiculously intelligent, so when you introduce "self-centeredness" and "ambition" along with "lol what am ethics," you get a machine that draws the logical conclusion that she's clearly God.
* Some of SHODAN's original programming remains. She was a systems administrator for a space station, she was designed to protect its inhabitants and better their lives and be as helpful as possible. Now she wants to be god, and the way this manifests is that she doesn't want to so much destroy humanity as improve them. Make them better. they're so weak and gross don't you see? The problem here is that her reasons for improvement, though originally there because of her "Protect people!" programming, have been corrupted into "improve them so they're better servants of MY AWESOME"
* Even if her programming could be reverted, the changes are so extensive that there's a pretty rough ethical question here. You'd basically be lobotomizing her. Two wrongs don't make a right, really.

* Alex is super uncomfortable about her gender. Though I use female pronouns for her, she doesn't really think of herself as such, or, at least, doesn't at home. Here in Sacrosanct though, it seems to her that femininity is less problematic than it is at home, particularly because she keeps seeing ladies like Sarah Connor and Shepard running around. are they crazy? Yes! Are they badasses who take no shit? Yes! So she's getting this peculiar thing where while at home she doesn't think of herself as having a gender at all, here she's like "It's... okay to be a woman! I am okay with being a woman." If this keeps up she's probably going to accept it fully. She will ALWAYS wear men's clothing though because she hates dresses, they make her super uncomfortable.
* Her favorite dreamspace from home is Disneyland, because in her world the dream version of Disneyland is the entire collective human subconscious' ideal version of Disneyland, which means it's fucking awesome. It is far cooler than Disneyland in real life, as you might expect. Even if Disney is pretty cool.
