HEADCANON MEME

1. Comment in the post listing your characters.

3. You list three things that are your headcanon for that character.
Alternatively, someone can ask you a specific question about the headcanon you have for a certain character. This gives you the option to answer questions pertaining to certain subjects, or think about a question you hadn't considered/answered with your headcanon yet.

There's no limit to the topics or the amount of times someone can ask about a character. It can be huge things like how their life was before their canon, or something smaller like their first time making sweet sweet... um, baked goods for the family. As long as you think it's something that is accurate to your character but it isn't in their canon.

This might just be my rusty memory talking, BUT

We're never really told why Garrus has such a hard-on for JUSTICE, aside from justice and Law and Order being very Turian things to do. And his dad is C-Sec, which helps instill a lot of idas about what's right and what's wrong, but the extent that he goes to to try and make the galaxy a better place (even if he's miguided) intrigue me. So I figure there has to be something down in there besides "dad is a space cop". What's driving him? What experience did he have in life to make him want to hunt down criminals that badly and put bullets into them, even before he met Shepard?

I mean, yeah, part of is his upbringing. But in my head-canon, another part of it is time he spent on the citadel when he was younger. Because hey, C-Sec father, yadda yadda, he's going to see the Citadel at some point. I think the experience of just seeing the place and seeing some of the lower wards at some point gave him the idea that he needs to help people and he needs to make things right in the galaxy, even by himself. He's a crusader and an idealist.

And that makes him very, very dangerous.

Also, I feel like his squad was almost a surrogate family for him, for a while (or surrogate Normandy crew, whatever). They worked with each other for a while, so it was really more than just, "We go out and kill criminals together!" They had a drink every so often. Play space poker. All that sort of thing.

Which is why Garrus went totally unhinged when they all got killed.

I really like his adoption of his crews and that seeing the wards was the inspiration for his idealism, that Csec was a good vessel for that, but not the main event.

This meshes (fff not quite the right word but I am letired) very, very well with my headcanon for Shepard's whole Renegade attitude. So awesome.

Garrus just seems like a total bro. He embraces people he works with pretty easily, at least once he gets around to trusting them. At least in my head.

And I figure even if he's living a comfortable life, he's still going to want to help people.

Totally. I'd imagine comfortable living isn't a factor for his idealism. Whether he has money or not, he's still going to cap people who do wrong.
