Barricade finds Karkat extremely good for a laugh on most days. He's just so cute when he gets all crazy and enraged.
On the same note, he realizes that Karkat is trying to be a leader to the other trolls and acts a little too much like his Megatron for his comfort. He would really like to fix that. If only he thought that Karkat would ever listen to actual honest advice on things.

Alex is pretty much Barricade's favorite person around here. No lie. He reminds Cade a little of himself sometimes, before Cade developed nearly-psychotic paranoia. He'd like to help keep Alex out of trouble for that reason. He has to think that someone like him could come out of things (mostly) mentally intact. Other than that, he generally just really likes Alex and enjoys his company. They have interesting conversations.
It also doesn't hurt that Alex was a sort of protector figure while Cade was little and that Alex is really good at petting his wings.

Also, he's extremely wary of scientists. It's not you, Shockwave, it's all the other scientists out there.
