“Never understood the whole... need for touch... thing. To fuck is one thing. To cuddle afterward? What is that about?” Virgil rolled his mostly empty bottle of beer between his palms as Rookie watched him in silence. “Had two partners back home. Guy and a girl. They made me sleep in between them every night. Never understood it. Too hot, get all tangled up, wake up every time either of 'em moved.” He pursed his lips and rested his chin against the lacquered counter top. “Now I can't sleep at all.”
Rookie laughed. “Aint that just how it goes?” He grinned and patted Virgil's back.
