[Someone's kind of musing to herself while she has an eyepiece pressed to a massive sheet of X-Ray film with series of thick bands of black in columns. Yep. That there be someone's genome on that sheet.]
[Delores taps one of the thicker bands on the film.] They help make the building blocks of your cells. According to what I've seen compared to some of the other life here, ours look a little different. We're definitely not plants.
[She raises her eyebrows for a moment, turning her head slightly to the side. ] It... I mean... We're a lot more similar than most people think we are.
[Holding up a finger for a moment, she goes shuffling through a couple other films before pulling out one to set next to her first. At first glance, there's not many differences between the locations of the bands, but some of the bands are significantly thicker than others and thinner as well.]
[Peeta looks between the two sheets. He can recognize the similarities and the differences with a precision that most can't, a natural inclination to observation of details when it comes to lights and shadows that is uncommon. But, after a moment, he looks at her again.]
[He watches her fingers at first, but then looks away before she's even finished demonstrating. Peeta has already seen and absorbed all the similarities and differences. Even though that's not what he doesn't understand, he waits for her to finish before replying.]
I see the differences, but how does that represent us and plants?
Well, I use proteases to cut the DNA at specific markers and then run electricity through it. The bigger pieces don't travel as far and the smaller pieces travel much farther. So if we were exactly like plants, these should be identical.
[She smiles slightly, hoping Peeta's starting to catch on.]
[Straightening a little, eyes flicking to follow his gaze. Welp. Not sure if she's uncomfortable with that or not, so her expression is a confusing mix of both.]

It's me. [She taps the film with one fingernail before hurriedly gesturing to him to come over to the lighbox.] Or, really, my ribosomes.

What are ribosomes?

Compare the plant to me in these terms.

I don't understand.

[Delores slides her hand down to another set of bands where the two sheets are almost identical.] We also have a lot in common.

What is DNA?
I apologize in advance.
[Archer has a Bloody Mary. Where he's gotten it, no one is really certain.]
Secret plans, or--[He pauses and just lets his eyes drift. Now he's rather unabashedly staring at her ass.] Something?
totally fine lmfao
Ribosomal RNA. Not really secret.
[She taps the film in front of her.]
