Guess he's an X-Box, and I'm more Atari.

WHOO!

[All of the wariness. All of it.
Though his mun loves that song.]

Anon, right?

[Stares back. Staring contest?]
recompiling: (System Monitor)

[personal profile] recompiling 2011-02-04 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Correct.

[Of course. They'll have the best staring contests.]
a_perfect_end: The players tried for a forward pass. (not $flynn)

Sent by the Dude Man himself, unless I miss my guess. And I never miss my guess.

[Neither of them need to blink! D: We'll have to invent some new kind of tie breaker.]

Never? Tall order.

[That'll be difficult. Most program tie-breakers seem to end in death D:]
a_perfect_end: The players tried for a forward pass. (nod your head)

[Anon couldn't possibly be calling him a liar. No, he's just. Amazed at Clu's prowess! Yes. That must be it.]

...I manage.

You do alright, too. Resilient, resourceful.

But whatever he's promised you? You won't get it.

[Death or VARIABLE FOOD: CAKE. Which...he's not sure what that is but it sounds suspiciously like another name for death.]

[He isn't necessarily calling Clu a liar. Clu still looks like Flynn and Anon has difficulty being intentionally cruel to that face.]

Flattering me.

He did not promise me anything.

[So basically it's just 'or death'?]
a_perfect_end: The players tried for a forward pass. (bad command or file name)

[personal profile] a_perfect_end 2011-02-05 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
[It always comes down to that. No one values Clu for himself. But he's used to it. And hey, reluctance? He can work with that. Just ask Tron.]

...You are very hard to kill. [It's the most honest compliment he's given anyone since 1983.]

No? No gleaming future, just the two of you?

[Basically! We have any flavor you want, as long as it's DEATH. :D]
recompiling: (Back View)

[Anon barely knows Clu, beyond 'I rescued him and then he screwed up my mentor'. Not his proudest day.]

... I try. [askldjf being complimented what do]

No. Never.

[Clearly the only way this staring contest will end is with DEATH :3]

In your conflict with Flynn, I can't say you're wrong. Still, I have to side against you. Computers and AI were meant to serve human beings. If you can't or won't do that, then there's no point to you.
a_perfect_end: The players tried for a forward pass. (please restate)

[personal profile] a_perfect_end 2011-02-07 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
What do you do when the individual who wrote you admits they have done so in error, and that in fact, your core directive should be impossible--by their limited, narrow, thoroughly human understanding?

[identity profile] standaloneshell.livejournal.com 2011-02-07 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
You're speaking as if this doesn't happen every day. Even humans can be tools to the higher-ups; if you can't handle being a disposable entity, then maybe you should consider taking up a hermitage.

The irony here is that my programmer went all master of realms invisible in response to this exact phenomenon.
