Gibson & Rinzler (& Anon can sneak in there because that'd be just like him). 1982

[And the song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4nhI2BmrfY).]

Honestly, Gibson kind of liked Garden Zone 11. It was the closest thing the station seemed to have to the Outlands, even if everything was the wrong color and covered in plants (honestly, were they everywhere in this glitching place?). He would have liked it a bit more if he wasn't also currently running for his life, but he could worry about that later.

Preferably not as he was getting his throat sliced open by an identity disc, but he wasn't going to get picky right now.

Flynn had mentioned the "home-court advantage" once and Gibson got the concept… if not necessarily the origin of the phrase itself. (If he survived this--and it was definitely an if at this point, not a when--he was definitely going to have to ask about basketball again… or was it baseball? Never mind, didn't matter, there wasn't time to get distracted right now and all of the User games sounded pretty much the same anyway.) Take the fight somewhere you were familiar with, give yourself as much of an advantage as you could over your opponent… it all made sense in theory, but theory sort of went out the window when Tron-Rinzler-whatever was hunting him down.

He'd done the math. He'd done the math over and over and over, trying to make sure he hadn't fumbled a calculation somewhere along the line. Reprioritize internal processes and minimize the unnecessary ones, redirect energy flow a little bit, convert it all to User time… he kept coming up with the same result.

Five days. Five days in this too-bright, too-orange version of the Outlands before he ran out of energy and derezzed on his own. Sure, he could do that.

Maybe.

His internal reserves weren't going to be the problem, though. The problem was going to be staying ahead of Tr--Rinzler for long enough to have it make a difference. It didn't take much effort to shunt power away from his circuitry, and he was better-adapted for low-light conditions than any of the other programs on the station. If he could make it to sundown, he'd probably be all right… but at this point, that was a big if. Still, there wasn't much point in wasting energy on worrying.

All he had to do now was keep running.

[Um. I can't decide if I should be proud of the fact that I wrote a Gibson drabble without any dialogue at all… or just try to give you your money back and write you something with more snark. xD Also, Rinzler doesn't really show up. Oops.

edit: s-sob now I want to write something else for this prompt. You may end up getting three drabbles for the price of two. :|b]

I think it's awesome! I like his train of thoughts. Very well done. ^_~b

I won't object to more drabbles! o/

Also: sorry 'bout last night. I wasn't ignoring you. I forgot to sign out of AIM before rushing to class. I was running late. Hurrhurr. I ended up with like five IMs that night that I didn't see until earlier this morning. Fft.

asjfha thank you! ♥

... well, I rolled another song for Gibson+Rinzler, and iTunes gave me this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdTucUya9YE). I think I have to do it. xD

Haha, it's no problem! I've done the same thing before, trust me. And with the exact same result!

THE HELL IS THAT??? /dies

Oh my goodness. That... is... idefk. But. Yes. Write.

Oh, man. It always makes me feel so bad for "ignoring" people when I do it. And I do it all the time. Which is half the reason I stay invisible more often than not these days. >.>;
