Delta was fully aware that Kevin Flynn could no doubt trace his network movements. His programming language might be antiquated, but it was clear Flynn was more familiar with AI than any human Delta had ever known - which, considering his own history, was certainly saying something. Still, it was a kind of shyness that kept Delta from announcing himself as a lurker around Flynn's presence.
He was unsurprised, then, when Flynn simply turned to the nearest holoprojector out of the blue one day and announced, "I know you're there, Delta."
Flashing on in his customary green armored hologram (with maybe a tinge of pink embarrassment), Delta nodded acknowledgment. "Good afternoon. I hope I am not disturbing your work."
Flynn grinned down at the little guy, reaching one hand down to provide a backdrop for Delta's light. "Nope," he said cheerfully. "But why not hang out in person?"
Delta tilted his head to one side. "You are aware that my programming chip is far distant," he stated. "'In person' is not an accurate term." He was a little pleased, of course, that Flynn considered him a person.
Flynn tapped in a command on his bracelet and ran a simple hologram that popped up some milk and cookies, Delta-sized, next to his work station. "You know what I mean."
Delta turned his head to the virtual snack and considered Flynn for a long moment. Finally, he ran through the air over to the milk and cookies and took up a sitting position at the side of Flynn's desk. "I would be happy to."
Flynn beamed a smile at him and sat down to work again. "So, tell me what it's like in your time...."
