#1290: Marvin the Paranoid Andriod - Reasons To Be Miserable (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YX-IPyjFmuQ) this is what you get when you pick the high numbers

"THIS IS BULLSHIT!"

Something large and breakable flew across the workshop and shattered against the wall. Parker flinched from her spot under the table.

"It's not that bad."

It came out more doubtful than encouraging, though. The one-time carcharian glared at nothing and stomped around the workshop, clanging loudly.

"My whole fucking side hurts," he announced. "That shouldn't even be possible."

Parker frowned. It didn't seem like it should be possible. Virgil lifted his arm, staring at it dully before letting it fall back heavily to his side. At least he wasn't throwing things anymore. Cautiously, Parker poked her head out from under the table. When no flying ship parts seemed forthcoming, she emerged the rest of the way.

She moved to stand in front of Virgil and studied him intently for a few seconds. His scowl deepened, but he didn't shove her away. After a moment, Parker nodded decisively.

"I like it," she announced. "It's a good look for you."

Virgil rolled his eyes so hard they nearly fell out of his head. It was hard, now that his eyes were nothing more than gleaming lights, but somehow he pulled it off. "The damn AI turned me into a robot, love," he explained patiently, through gritted nonexistent teeth. "It's not a look, it's a fucking violation."

Parker, who had never been turned into a robot overnight, just shrugged. "Could be worse," she said, and leaned close, whispering into Virgil's ear. Or near where his ear would have been, if he'd still had them. "She could have turned you into a horse." She straightened up, nodding gravely.

Virgil just stared at her. He had no idea how to respond to that. Finally, he did the only thing he could do. He chuckled, shaking his head.

"You're right," he said. "She could have turned me into a horse." He stared down at his metal body for a moment, then back up at Parker. If he could still grin, he would have been doing it right now.

"Come on, love," he said. "Let's go see what kind of trouble a robot can get into around here."

Parker beamed, and led the way out the door.
