Dark Future Meme (as requested)
[We know who it is we want. We have a collective mind.
We don't miss a single step. We're always right behind.
We know we serve someone else. We have swallowed our pride.
We march to this tune of loss. We take this in our stride.]
Ten years later, humanity and the synthetic life on the station are at odds
Hypatia has inducted as many citizens of Sacrosanct into a private military and launched
an all-out war against organic life and the people of Asphodel.
Some were kept on the station as captives, some escaped down planet-side
to become part of the resistance, and countless others were re-purposed into
Hypatia's willing slaves.
Where will you be?
How this works:
-If you are synthetic or part-synthetic, OR if you have special armor (Looking at you, Spartans, Troncast, EVERY ROBOT EVER) you are a target for re-purpose.
You can still have escaped down to the planet, but she'll be after you. Going to the station is dangerous, once you enter her wide-area-network you are at risk of being hacked
-If you are fully organic, you are either dead, kept prisoner and made to work on the station, or part of the resistance on Asphodel.
-Anything in-between? You decide. Be creative with this.
-Fill out the form below to give us an idea of what your character is up to, what happened to them etc. Thread with each other! RP it out!
-Also, bring in your extra journals! There won't be the same people on the station ten years from now! If you're planning to app someone, or just have something interesting lying around, toss them in!

Good. How about you?

[She'd set the alarm early deliberately, this time - if he wanted to think he was giving her time to sleep in, she wasn't going to argue about it, but she also wasn't going to let him decide when she needed to wake up.
Right now, they have a little time.
She settles into his arms with a little sigh, sliding her hand down from his cheek to run lightly down his arm.]
How's your shoulder?
no subject
York rolls onto his back a bit and tugs her in and against his chest, stroking a hand up her spine, rubbing firm circles up and down her back, lingering at her neck, working out any kinks. ]
Shoulder-y.
[ He leans in, steals a quick kiss, and smiles tiredly. ]
S'good, don't worry. Got almost full range of motion and painkillers.
no subject
Just don't want you making it worse today.
[Sarah rests her head on his chest and curls her palm against his side, quiet for a moment before she speaks.]
I dreamed about Delta last night.
no subject
Hey, trust me, I'll be fine.
[ There's a moment of silence that he just memorizes, every last little thing, and he strokes his fingers against the nape of her neck, quietly, until she speaks again and his stomach clenches. ]
Oh. Yeah?
no subject
[She doesn't turn to look at him, just stays leaning against his chest, listening to his heartbeat and stroking her fingers idly over his ribcage.]
Dreamed he just popped in right over your shoulder and started offering advice. Just like he'd never been gone.
[She smiles wistfully, remembering, but then hesitates, raising her head to look at York's face apologetically.]
--sorry.
I shouldn't have said anything.
no subject
No-- [ he has to pause, clear his throat because his voice is too uneven, quiet. ] No. It's-- okay.
Better good ones than bad, huh?
no subject
[There've been enough bad ones.
Sarah looks at him for a moment, and then leans forward for a kiss, curling her hand into his hair and letting her eyes slip closed.
There are no words she can say that can help.
She pulls back, looking at him a moment more, and then rolls off him and up to a sitting position, swinging her legs over the side of the bed.]
We better get moving.
no subject
[ York leans into her, kissing her back, soft and sweet and he hates it-- god he hates knowing that it's possible she's not coming back, that he's not coming back. There aren't any other choices, though, not like this.
Sarah swings her legs off the bed, and York follows with a kiss at the curve of her throat, and a stroke of fingers over the small of her back. ]
Go shower, I'll get the coffee and some toast ready.
no subject
[She smiles at the little signs of affection, allowing herself a moment to lean against his shoulder, squeezing his hand lightly before she lets go and heads for the shower.
She reappears a few moments later, heading straight for the coffeepot and inhaling the scent with obvious relish.
Mmm.
[She slides in at the table next to York, smiling as she lifts the mug with both hands.
Your coffee's always so much better than mine.
no subject
She heads for the shower, and York heads for the kitchen, spreading butter on toast, getting their coffee ready with the ease of someone who does this every morning, or near enough. ]
Years of making it, that's all.
no subject
[Because her coffee is nearly undrinkable, by comparison. Sarah shoots him a smile, nudging his leg playfully with her foot as she snags a piece of toast.]
So what's the plan today?
[She nods to the notebook lying on the other side of the table.]
no subject
[ He tangles his leg with hers, playful right back, and then tugs the notepad over, after taking a bite of his toast and chewing. ]
Dunno. Gonna need supplies again soon, we're running low on a few things. I wanted to see if I could get any more spare weapons, too. Gonna start looking back into getting into her systems.
no subject
We've got the supplies cache in sector 12, but it hasn't been restocked in awhile. We should probably look into trading for more, or seeing what John can spare.
[She hesitates, looking up at him.]
...think you can do any good in there?
[It's not that she doubts you, honey, it's just that...well. It's dangerous, messing around in the AI's systems, and a lot of people have tried with nothing but regrets to show for it.]
no subject
I've got a few friends who'll trade if I can get them into some places, so no worries there.
[ Her question, though, makes him pause. ]
Dunno. I want to say eventually, yeah.
no subject
Just don't want you drawing attention to yourself for nothing.
[They both know what happens to people who attract Hypatia's attention.
But she also knows that getting in there is the only hope they really have for ever putting an end to this.
She sighs, and tries to smile, resting her hand over York's where it lies on the table and squeezing gently.]
Anything I can do to help?
no subject
[ Not that he wants to take too many risks, not with how dangerous things get. There's a resistance, but he doesn't wantto draw unneeded attention to anyone and risk them.
His reasons for wanting to get into her systems aren't noble or unselfish though. Delta's still there and so are others. He can't leave Delta there forever. ]
Yeah. You feel up to coming?
no subject
[Of course she does. And she knows, too, the real reason York wants to get back into Hypatia's systems. He wants to see her shut down as much as the rest of them do, of course, but she doesn't have to ask to know that he's thinking about Delta.
She has her doubts about whether saving Delta is possible - if there's any hope left for him at all. But she doesn't voice them, just smiles and throws back the rest of her coffee.]
Of course I do.
no subject
[ Except not really. Every time he asks, he wants her to stay behind, wants her to stay back and stay safe, because that's the best option in his mind, but he knows she'll never go for it, and he'd never suggest it. ]
I'll make some calls. We'll head out in 10?
no subject
I'll get the car ready.
[She pauses on her way back through the kitchen, setting a hand on his shoulder and leaning in for a quick kiss.]
Don't be late.
no subject
[ He kisses back, just as briefly, and doesn't bother to take care of the dishes-- he never, ever does, because they'll always be there to do when they get home and it's just...habit by now. Like if he does them, somehow, things will go wrong. It doesn't make sense, but not a whole lot does anymore.
A few calls get made, and York's sliding out to the car soon enough, nodding. ]
Just us. Got the back packed up-- we're headed to one of the east terminals. There's gonna be people, so we have some armor we'll have to put on before we get there.
no subject
She nods, folding the map and tucking it away, and starts up the car.]
We'll stop when we're close, get armor on and try and get a look at what we're up against before we barge in.
[Not everyone is lucky enough to have remote sensors, either, but having a son who's a leader in the resistance has its perks.]
no subject
Gotcha.
[ He slides the key in and starts the car up with a slow purr-- he'd worked on the engine himself, just to make sure it wouldn't ever screw up on them, and then pulled out, gun at his side like always. ]
no subject
It's dangerous, getting close to the installations. But it's dangerous for Hypatia as well - they're all linked directly back to her, under her control; they have to be, for them to be of any use to her.
And that means that they're a weak spot. A vulnerability, that the resistance can exploit.
If they can get in.
Sarah glances over at York as they get close, one hand on the wheel, the other resting on the pistol in her lap.]
See anything?
no subject
He pushes those thoughts out and focuses instead on keeping a watch out the other side, rifle in hand, making sure they don't miss anything on their way there. His gear is in the back-- he'd at least put the chest armor on just because he was too lazy to carry it in his arm with everything else, but the rest of their gear was in the back seat. ]
All clear on the right side. Left clear?
