Dark Future Meme
Ten years later, humanity and the synthetic life on the station are at odds
Hypatia has inducted as many citizens of Sacrosanct into a private military and launched
an all-out war against organic life and the people of Asphodel.
Some were kept on the station as captives, some escaped down planet-side
to become part of the resistance, and countless others were re-purposed into
Hypatia's willing slaves.
Now, tensions are at a peak and both sides are preparing for a throwdown. Skirmishes break out on the station and planet. Many of Hypatia's prisoners have been freed, but many more have fallen to the clutches of reprogramming.
Where will you be?
How this works:
-If you are synthetic or part-synthetic, OR if you have special armor (Looking at you, Spartans, Troncast, EVERY ROBOT EVER) you are a target for re-purpose.
You can still have escaped down to the planet, but she'll be after you. Going to the station is dangerous, once you enter her wide-area-network you are at risk of being hacked
-If you are fully organic, you are either dead, kept prisoner and made to work on the station, or part of the resistance on Asphodel.
-Anything in-between? You decide. Be creative with this.
-Fill out the form below to give us an idea of what your character is up to, what happened to them etc. Thread with each other! RP it out!
-Also, bring in your extra journals! There won't be the same people on the station ten years from now! If you're planning to app someone, or just have something interesting lying around, toss them in!

In this meme: I ruin everything for Linda forever
Current location: Asphodel
Current Physical Appearance: Kanaya stopped aging at around 9 sweeps, for conveniences sake, and because it turns out that her novels didn't completely fucking lie to her and rainbow drinkers are exactly as Mary Sue-ish as no one lead her to believe. She topped off at about 7 feet (not including horns) and remains tall and mostly slender, though she does have dem hips.
However, she's missing her original arms and legs, as Hypatia has seen fit to replace them with stronger metal limbs that have basically removed most physical constraints on her strength and stamina. The right arm transforms into a chainsaw, and the left has needles build into it that allows her to drain blood on contact. They are also heavy metal fucking arms that can punch through walls and shit. Hypatia don't spring for no cheap shit. In order to insure that she doesn't starve, she has two tanks made of a metal alloy with tubes that attach to her jugular veins and directly feed synthetic troll blood into her system. She wears cloths similar to he work clothes, but more tattered at the edges.
Summary: So Kanaya was a good moirail and good friend. The problem was she was too busy being these things that she got herself trapped on the station when the iron curtain came down. Hypatia has a lot of use for an undead revenant, and she has all the means in the world to synthesize blood, thanks to all these nice troll donors. While Kanaya managed to destroy a good many drones, she eventually found herself fatigued and was captured.
While Hypatia was never able to keep her fully organic and complacent, she did manage to find a middle ground. She replaced Kanaya's arms and legs with combat issue metal prosthetics, and blanked out the parts of her memory that made her mistrust robots, as well as large amounts of her life back "home" so that she would feel detached from a life that wasn't the one she's trapped in now. Kanaya has very little recollection of Alternia aside from memories of blistering heat and her lusus, and while she can recall their symbols and colors, she doesn't remember her friends names or faces. She does remember snippets of conversations and ghosts of feelings but for the most part does what she sees as her current duty.
Her current duty is to patrol the tunnels of Asphodel and interrogate or kill any resistance members she finds. She is good and bad at this, able to kill but on rare occasions, not doing so because "gee now don't I know you" syndrome and a vague feeling that this is not what she's supposed to be doing. She lives in one of the Hypatia controlled Carbon Plants in a small office room covered in bright swaths of fabric. Hypatia drops spare blood containers every 3 weeks, mostly because Kanaya is not as effective as she had hoped and she likes to study the effects starvation has on hideous undead-robot amalgamations of war, hate and half-memory. She still wears her old symbol on everything. She feels it's important for some reason.

"Hi, Kanaya," he says over the speaker he's installed at this outpost, sounding vaguely cheerful. "You look hungry. When was the last time you ate?"
no subject
She isn't sure how to answer that question. This blood isn't filling, it isn't right. It's been so long since Hypatia has sent her anything non synthetic. Even synthetic tyrian would be better than the sluge currently pumping into her. "I am always famished. It is how the arrangement with Hypatia works. I believe it may be intentional."
It's worth a shot. "Where are you? Where is everyone?"
no subject
He doesn't sound very distressed.
no subject
She was taught better then that. Wasn't she?
"Hungry. Frustrated. Nostalgic. Sometimes I am even morose and distraught." She seems to take a measure of pride in this, in feeling feelings. The pride goes away when Sollux reminds her of Hypatia. "She is simply disappointed. I seem to have failed her due to my inability to permeate the barrier you have set around these tunnels. She sends less blood because of my failures. It matters little. I have learned to go longer and longer periods without, and I enjoy our conversations, Mustard."
no subject
Thoughtfully, he continues, "It's nice to see you're still here, though. I'd hate it if you died, it's nice talking to you even if you don't remember anything. I even moved all our conversations to permanent storage in case you really were dead and all I could do was replay them over and over. Anyway, I'll see about that blood. Trolls only, right?"
this is too cute oh my god
"Yes please. You never tell any sort of falsehood when they ask who the blood is going to, right? I'm not quite sure why, but I dislike lying." She moves towards the cave wall on her side, idly scratching in a circle and a bowtie before carving it away with her claws. "Is it possible for you to at least elaborate on the status of the other trolls?"
Kanaya remembers that, at least, taking pride in her race and it's less terrible traits. It's why she had that thing. With the horns on it. It was so important. She misses it sometimes.
sob they are good franz
He falls silent for a moment, then continues. "Why do you care about the other trolls, anyway? You don't remember a thing about them, and if I let you in you'd kill them if you could."
no subject
She presses harder against the shielding, palm flat and shoving like anything would move the shielding an inch. "I wouldn't kill them, at least, I do not think I would. I never do when I see them, when I follow him. I feel like they're important in some way, thought not to Hypatia. I look around in my memories for what isn't there, and I feel there are blanks where they would fit. Does it matter?"
no subject
"And maybe you wouldn't the first time, or the second time, but eventually your friend in the sky would catch on and reprogram you to take advantage of my trust and kill them all. Kill me, too. So yeah, not gonna happen. I really am sorry about that, it'd be nice for us all to hang out like we used to."
no subject
She huffs and sits against the tunnel walls, crossing her arms and glaring at the ground. It strikes her as... What was the word? Immature. So she stops looking sulky at least. "What was it like? When we were all together?"
At her best times, she remembers smells and silhouettes and colors and symbols, but that's all. Everything seems so perfect besides that. So idealistic. Where did it all go wrong?
no subject
Sollux considers her question carefully, but not before taking a moment to enjoy Kanaya looking so sassy and indignant like she used to. "It was kind of shitty sometimes. We all fought a lot, we were kids, not all of us got along. But...overall, it was good. More than good."
no subject
"We didn't all get along? I believe I recall those parcels of information more clearly than most. Perhaps because anger is more valuable to me than warm feelings. It's okay though. I like feeling angry sometimes. It's better than nothing."
no subject
But the latest snippet felt different to her. She saw something that she ouldn't fully decipher, but she still felt compelled to see if there was any merit to it. So, she left her home and traveled to the tunnels. One thorn out, raised to generate a light, she floated aimlessly, waiting for something to happen. Perhaps it's because she so rarely leaves her home that she forgot two of the most obvious rules of heading out by herself, having failed to either take a comm with her or notify anyone that she was leaving.
Hopefully by the time she remembered that she was officially outside of the resistance's safety net, it wouldn't have already come back to bite her.
no subject
So she tenses, aims carefully and lunges at her back.
no subject
Until, of course, she catches the brightly glowing tint of her assailant's skin.
Her hand shakes, and twitches. The shot she fires goes wind, black lashes coming from her Thorn and ripping through the walls rather than hitting Kanaya square in the back. Rose curses under her breath. If there's anyone else nearby, she sure as hell just alerted every last one of them to her whereabouts. But that almost doesn't seem as important, consider that it's Kanaya.
no subject
Her colors overlap with another shallow memory, and she shot that thing. Kanaya isn't certain she wants the answers to any questions she has about this one.
no subject
"...Kanaya."
Well, she can't think of much else to start with.
no subject
"Yes?"
