Ten years later, humanity and the synthetic life on the station are at odds
Hypatia has inducted as many citizens of Sacrosanct into a private military and launched
an all-out war against organic life and the people of Asphodel.
Some were kept on the station as captives, some escaped down planet-side
to become part of the resistance, and countless others were re-purposed into
Hypatia's willing slaves.

Now, tensions are at a peak and both sides are preparing for a throwdown. Skirmishes break out on the station and planet. Many of Hypatia's prisoners have been freed, but many more have fallen to the clutches of reprogramming.

Where will you be?

How this works:
-If you are synthetic or part-synthetic, OR if you have special armor (Looking at you, Spartans, Troncast, EVERY ROBOT EVER) you are a target for re-purpose.
You can still have escaped down to the planet, but she'll be after you. Going to the station is dangerous, once you enter her wide-area-network you are at risk of being hacked

-If you are fully organic, you are either dead, kept prisoner and made to work on the station, or part of the resistance on Asphodel.

-Anything in-between? You decide. Be creative with this.

-Fill out the form below to give us an idea of what your character is up to, what happened to them etc. Thread with each other! RP it out!

-Also, bring in your extra journals! There won't be the same people on the station ten years from now! If you're planning to app someone, or just have something interesting lying around, toss them in!

VICTOR FRIES/MR. FREEZE

[personal profile] cryovengeance 2012-02-06 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Victor Fries/Mr. Freeze
Current location: Asphodel
Current Physical Appearance: No different than currently, considering Freeze doesn't age. His suit is more up-to-date, but that's the only true difference.
Summary: Over the course of time on Sacrosanct, Freeze's icy exterior has slowly melted -- but only to some. Most people are still brushed off at least verbally and he still has no qualms about killing those in his way, as well as an overabundant sense of vengeance.

Since Hypatia's uprising, Freeze was force to abandon Sacrosanct considering the technological advances of his suit and he could not abandon his suit since he needs it to survive and all. Reluctantly, he left swiftly, and found himself needing to keep his suit in high maintenance considering Asphodel is basically a desert planet. Should his suit fail, Freeze won't last long at all.

Currently, Freeze works in silence as the rebel's medic. He's generally uninterested in the well-being of most others, but he sees it as necessary in order to get back to Sacrosanct and learn to control the Rift. Otherwise, he will never find a way to reunite with his beautiful Nora.

Name: Nemesis Prime
Current location: Sacrosanct
Current Physical Appearance: Though he's abandoned the name 'Convoy', Nemesis is still a black Nissan. For all intents and purposes, he's virtually identical to how he looked before...though there are a few, semi-subtle changes.
He no longer wears the Autobot badge, for one. For another - his optics are black. No light shines within them. And weaponry...he still has his guns, though they can no longer shoot through time as they once did, but he also carries a pair of hand-sickles within easy reach.

Summary: When Hypatia began to reformat the synthetics, Nemesis - Convoy - was able to resist. His higher-dimensional processor gave him some resistance to her hacking, and he used this to his advantage, assisting in the evacuation of as many as he could. But even boulders can be worn down, and eventually, the world went dark.

Without his processor directing himself, Nemesis was little more than a killing machine. And in his processor, he was trapped in a memory loop, of pain and void and hell that he could not pull himself out of. It took Shockwave's skill to so much as pierce the veil, and even then, longer still for him to stop suddenly in battle, fall to his knees, and just scream voicelessly against a force he was utterly unable to stop.

It would have been far too easy if he was able to escape, then. He didn't. Hypatia brought him back, but the 'damage' had already been done - Nemesis had reawakened, and was able to keep himself away by submerging himself in Nemesis - the persona of a Herald of destruction, who lived only to serve the Will. This...this was easy. Too easy, and to kill so indiscriminately once more was anathema to the healing his spark had obtained, but it was the only way he would keep it and his processor intact.

As it was, Hypatia's programs remain. They press orders on him, ones he can only ignore or stall for so long. Most of the time, he doesn't; he is her servant, a tool, a weapon. He sows destruction and leaves havoc in his wake. But even though he has abandoned the name 'Convoy' and all the good it carried...this is as much as mask as the one he wears. For there are times when he'll interpret the orders differently, to allow a crucial slip...while he is efficient and while he is a valued tool, he is not perfection. And sometimes...one order must be ignored, so that another can be accomplished.

The reasoning for this is simple, the motivation held only in his spark where she cannot reach and read it. He has already served a Master, and She is not him. He serves only to bring himself closer to her, to be valued, and to be trusted. He serves so that one day, when her need of him is greatest, he will simply step aside and let her fall.

And even then - even that is not enough. It is impossible to be who he is, without craving more destruction. Subconsciously, so deeply even he is barely aware of it, Nemesis seeks the very power of the station itself, its own heart. He seeks it so that he may kill it, so that if he does fall in his search for revenge...then all will fall.

What judgement happens in whatever end he finds...he will gladly submit to.

TL;DR - Nemesis is now one of Hypatia's most favored killers who is probably reknown for being so goddamn terrifying. There are, however, a handful who know what he's doing - and who also know that he cannot help them.
Befriend at your own risk...unless you're one of Hypatia's. In that case, have a mostly-silent sentinel.

Name: Max Guevara
Current location: Asphodel
Current Physical Appearance: Essentially the same, but a bit thinner and with a few more scars (none too obvious, she heals quickly).
Summary: Max doesn't have the amount of training that Alec does and hasn't started running the Transgenic Underground Railroad yet, but if there's one thing that she knows how to do, it's survive. She's determined to help as many people do the same thing as possible and spends a lot of time running between Sacrosanct and Asphodel trying to help prisoners escape. While she still knows how to be a soldier, she stopped being 452 a long time ago and there are times when the war and all the loss starts to get to her, but there are very few who ever see her at her weakest.

Name: Alec McDowell
Current location: Asphodel
Current Physical Appearance: A little older, a few more scars, but not obvious ones. Good genes are good genes. THINK DEAN WINCHESTER but less inclined to flannel.
Summary: The thing about having twenty plus years of military training and running the Transgenic Underground railroad in Seattle is that Alec is pretty good at doing the underground soldier thing. He's probably lost just as much as he's managed to save, and most of the time is more 494 than your loveable transgenic rogue. Very few people actually see Alec around these days, and if they do, it's people who have known him a very long time and he considers family.

The other seventy-five percent of the time, it's all soldier, all business. He's fighting a war, after all. People don't really need that other part of him. As a soldier, he's prone to taking risks, taking the sneaky or back way around things, and trying to use his intelligence to outsmart the robots. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Probably spends a lot of his time running between the station and Asphodel trying to get as many people out as possible.

Name: Charles Xavier
Current location: Asphodel.
Current Physical Appearance: Still not bald. He is, however, still paralysed.
Summary: Omega level telepath, anyone? Charles pretty much works as an event coordinator for the resistance, because it's pretty damn hard to tap into a telepathic broadcast being blocked by someone of his level. Plus, ten years to get really good at telepathy.

BY DAY HE IS PROBABLY A MILD-MANNERED SCHOOLTEACHER. No, seriously. He'd be making sure any children were getting at least rudimentary education while the war's going on. Since he can't do much to physically contribute.

Probably also has a mostly-handwritten library. Whoops.

Name: Samus Aran
Current location: Asphodel
Current Physical Appearance: Largely the same as before, she's managed to keep herself free of most scarring. She had to cut her luscious locks though as, without Varia, they get it the way.
Summary: Samus of course knew first off that having an AI overlord was no bueno, she just didn't work fast enough to end it. When the uprising of the synthetics first started, she was on the front lines holding her own. The only problem: her suit made her an easy target. Varia was hacked, and while wearing it found that she could not control it. After killing some of her own comrades, she barely managed to deactivate it.

She hasn't purposely reactivated it since, as the second she does it will be once more beyond her control. And who knows if she could stop it again. However, with it being linked to her emotional state, there's always the risk that it could reactivate on its own if someone managed to make her emotionally compromised.

KARKAT VANTAS

[personal profile] selfkismesis 2012-02-06 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
i am just copying and pasting the one from before...

Name: Karkat motherfucking Vantas
Current location: Asphodel
Current Physical Appearance: Bigger, despite still being a bit stumpy for a troll. Typical difference between a 13 year old and a 23 year old. Basically, he looks a lot like the Signless, but more scarred. Missing a leg because why the fuck not. People in RPs need to lose their legs more often. It's always the goddamn arms.
Summary: GUESS WHO PREDICTED THIS SHIT?! BITCHES SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO OUR RESIDENT ROBOHATER.

Basically, the first signs of something fishy, Karkat was warning the shit out of everything that moved. Considering the fact that he was warning the shit out of everything that moved even before things got fishy, it's easy to believe no one listened. Ever. Since they never do.

When Hypatia made her move, Karkat gathered as many of his team of trolls as he could and absconded. It was early, quick, and as low-key as possible.

Karkat's all about the resistance. He's pretty vocal about how the resistance should make more raids on Sacrosanct to TEAR DOWN THAT BULLSHIT ROBOMENANCE AND SHOW THAT GODDAMN HYPATIFUCKASS WHO'S THE MOST FUCKING SUPERIOR (HINT: THE ANSWER IS US) also maybe save people, that'd be good too. If there are trolls/people he has CR with still on Sacrosanct, he will be obsessively obsessive about getting them back.

Personality-wise, Karkat's rage is a universal and temporal constant. However (depending on how many trolls/friends made it out/have been saved), he's much more bitter. Defensive. Paranoid as shit. Basically, take all of his bad qualities and multiply them by stupid.

It's safe to say everyone ever pretty much knows about his blood, though. FIGHTING ROBOTS MEANS LOTS OF INJURIES AND SCARS AND STUFF.

Name: Michael Altman
Current location: Asphodel.
Current Physical Appearance: Altman has gone to shit, more or less. His hair is longer, he's given up on shaving, and showers are in short supply in the worm tunnels.
Summary: Altman dwells on the fringes of society with a small group of worm worshippers (ironically the same group that held him hostage another life ago). He formerly made attempts to involve himself with the Resistance, but as his mental health declined under the stress he started isolating himself more and more and, eventually, turned to wormblood to take the edge off. Things just got worse from there.

He's distrustful, insane, and nearly entirely consumed with the whispers of the Marker. The caves and tunnels he calls home are covered in Marker scrawls, fragments and jotnotes all related to the construction of another monolith. Generally hostile and avoidant, he prefers his solitude.

Basically? CRAZY OLD WORM-ADDICT ALTMAN.

[Secret identity? What secret identity? Terry hasn't bothered with one for years. Doesn't seem to be much point.

Thus the reason he's pulled the cowl back and is leaning against Fries' door. No high-tech Batsuit for him, not after Hypatia put out her all points bulletin on anything more advanced than a toaster. This suit's durable, sure, but he can't fly, and it doesn't protect half so well against things like, you know, bullets and knife-wounds. Man, how'd the old man ever go retro like this?

Whiiiiiiiich would be why he's here. He's always gotten along pretty well with Fries, considering the whole super villain thing. And he doesn't mind so much going to the guy when he needs to be patched up.]

Hey Fries. Got a minute?

[he's not about to bleed out all over the floor, but his arm's a little busted up, okay? plz halp.

Also he has a bag over one shoulder. And he's so not mentioning what's in it yet. (power cells for Fries' suit. He's still a do-gooder at heart.)]

Name: Soundwave
Current location: Asphodel
Current Physical Appearance: A bit more scruffy looking, longer hair. Either Soundwave is wearing scraps of clothes, or he lives in his battle armor.
Summary:

Reluctantly, Soundwave cooperated with Skyfire to assist in the evacuation and survival to Asphodel. No fan of returning to the desolate planet, he's made himself scarce and distanced from the natives.

Eventually, when Skyfire became Jetfire, Soundwave has found himself embittered and more determined than ever to face and destroy Hypatia. He hopes to free Skyfire, leaving his potential death as the last option.

On Asphodel, Soundwave remains away from most others, preferring to act an independent agent.

Name: Break"The Fuck"down
Current location: SACROSANCT WAS HERE. ASPHODEL IS A LOSER
Current Physical Appearance: Pretty much the same. He's a robot, so he doesn't age. He might have a few more shiny attatchments. Like hands that ACTUALLY TURN INTO FUCKING GUNS. My god what a novel idea.
Summary: You know how everyone picked sides in the war and all that shit based on personal preference and morals etc. etc. etc.? Well, Breakdown didn't really do that. He follows Knock Out and whoever's in charge, and Hypatia is most definitely in charge. That aside, he didn't like the looks of how the Resistance was treating their robots anyway, even if a handful of them weren't TOTALLY human. So Breakdown is currently on the station, Frankenstein-ing together upgrades with Knock Out for any of the willing or unwilling slaves that Hypatia has in her command.

The Doctor is in and so is his Assistant.

Name: Serin Osman
Current location: Asphodel
Current Physical Appearance: somewhere around 6', 190lbs, Mediterranean features, hair streaked with gray
Summary: Finding herself in Sacrosanct would have done nothing to diminish her ONI Spook Senses, and so it's a fair chance that whatever went down, Osman was at the breaking edge and made it to Asphodel in one piece, arranging as much of a resistance in her charge as she could. She'd probably have tried to from undercover networks and never back down from taking Hypatia out one way or another, even if means waiting back for the perfect moment to strike.

THAT THING WE TALKED ABOUT

[personal profile] knightofdarkness 2012-02-06 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
It's quiet.

The rock has settled, the last bits of dust slowly falling to the ground - that is, the dust that isn't being kicked up by his pacing, his examination of the rocks and rubble that have trapped them in here. He could shoot at them, no doubt, to try and break his way through...

It would collapse the cave. Nemesis emits a growl not unlike a frustrated animal as he rests a hand, the ping on his sensors to return faint but present.

He's been given an order. He cannot resist.

But at least it allows him to resist another order, one to kill, with the logic that it would prevent the newest from behind fulfilled. I need his help, he calmly informs the routines, and they leave him be as he tries to sort through his options and come upon a way out.

Name: Thane Krios
Current location: Apshodel
Current Physical Appearance: Skinnier, if possible. Wears his red suit (YOU KNOW, THAT GAYASS DLC FOR HIS OUTFIT).
Summary:

For awhile, Thane remained on Sacrosanct to assist those looking to leave. However, eventually, his organs worked against him -- Hypatia began to hack him, shutting down his organs at random, trying to get the assassin to cave in and work under her.

Skyfire, naturally, would have none of it and deposited the drell onto Asphodel.

The environment of Asphodel works well for someone like Thane, but the status of things has made him a bit colder. Knowing friends are either suffering, brainwashed, or dead has hardened him. If you're enslaved by Hypatia, Thane believes you're at the very least better off dead.

Current Physical Appearance: Older, not much else is different.
Summary: Well, not everyone made it to Asphodel.

Alejandro isn't enslaved, but he never quite made it to escape. Instead, he's forced to work as one of the engineers of Sacrosanct, repairing the station and Hypatia's army. Otherwise, she's sure to ravage his nerves and put him into pain.

Name: Sollux Captor
Current location: Asphodel
Current Physical Appearance: Significantly taller, lanky, more cyborg-y, pretty emaciated since he spends most of his time in a sensory isolation tank.
Summary: When Karkat absconded to Asphodel, Sollux was right beside him, of course. How else would you pull off a high-risk escape from a near-omnipresent AI without a hitch? The problem was that when they joined the Resistance, the members didn't trust Sollux (as a cyborg and an alien) and kept him under constant guard in a single room for months. When he was allowed out again he was never quite...right. He was jumpy, antisocial, and almost seemed disconnected from the world.

Eventually Sollux designed a defense/comm/warning/etc system for the Resistance that could rival Hypatia's in technological sophistication, controlled by organics, but it came at the price of reprising his ancestor's role as Helmsman - he now spends every moment of his existence suspended in sensory deprivation and plugged into the system of his own design, directing matters from there. It's okay, though. He barely remembers what it's like to inhabit a body anymore, so he doesn't much miss it.

Altman's in the middle of one of his outbursts, fingers wet with the wormblood he usually ingests as he covers the walls with the aggressive angles of Marker script. It's only the vaguest of vibrations, a disturbance in the usually stale air, that gives him any indication that someone is approaching.

He's gotten good at feeling his way around the tunnels like that, listening and feeling, and he knows this isn't one of the cultists he associates with. They know better than to come his way when he's having one of his bad days.

It takes a few tries for him to find his voice, his throat dry (when was the last time he drank anything that didn't come from a worm?) and sore, and even when he finally manages it cracks uncomfortably as he calls out;

"Who's there? Ada?"

Name: Leoben
Current location: Sacrosanct, being held prisoner/being repurposed.
Current Physical Appearance: Not too much different, probably a little older, worn, scruffy as hell. A few scars here and there.

Summary:
He joined the resistance because he likes humans, and mechanized copy or not, he values his own identity and doesn't take kindly to the idea of being used, especially for warfare. Despite knowing the risk, he joins a mission to the station, which is when he is captured.

He fights a losing battle against being repurposed. While he thought he came to terms with the things he's done, Hypatia still uses them against him, along with other events that may have happened.

mybrotherfought: (they just want a martyr)

[personal profile] mybrotherfought 2012-02-06 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Megaman
Current location: Sacrosanct
Current Physical Appearance: Megaman now wears a full face mask (much like his brother did, once) and carries a broken, scarred shield... again, his brother's.
Summary: Hypatia didn't have to convert him. She didn't have to reprogram him, she didn't have to do a single thing to make him hers, not on her own.
All she had to do was let him remember home.
He stood before the gathered crowd of humanity as they chanted his name, as they implored him to Kill Protoman! They screamed, but did not move. They would not move. They chanted and they cried and then --
He cannot remember if he was the one who fired the shot, or if it came from elsewhere. It doesn't matter -- in his mind, it was him, in his mind, it was because they made him do it.
He held his brother in his arms, he watched his brother die and listened to humanity ask him why he cried. Why he bothered to mourn.
And as the slaughter started he only had this to say: "And you are the dead."
To Megaman, humanity was already dead. They would always be dead to him. They had made him kill his brother, they had failed to stand against Wily and here, on Sacrosanct, they had failed to stand against Hypatia. The evidence was all there. They fled to the planet and cowered in their hovels. Just like home. All the same, every last one of them.
He is Her monster, he is Her Knight. No commander, no, he's not nearly sane enough for that, not nearly directed enough. Megaman is merely a weapon, a creature of terror, given command of a squadron of drones as a cursory gesture but mostly just dropped into knots of resistance groups... and allowed to murder.
And yet...
Each time he does he whispers, "Fight back, you corpses, you dead, fight back, do better than this..."
But they never do. His boots are stained with blood and they never, never do...
