Oh man Karkat I have such a thing for you.

At first like all of the other dudes on the station he pretty much had the loathe-meter up to full blast, save for some small reserves about some dudes. especially whenever you know.

everyone stopped even trying to associate with eridan WOW THAT HURT HIM??? AND EVERYTHING, because wow he. didn't evne want to try to hurt anyone though he knew he deserved it because of the fact he betrayed everyone and it just hurt.

but then you know shit started to die down and he was allowed back to the group and everything, he was really happy because just.

wow hes hanging out with people!!! especially karkat!!! best friend shit. like wow let's go on and on about how much everyone's stupid and wow did you see the outfit that guy had on omfg wow no.

but like. no honestly ERIDAN DOES REALLY REALLY APPRECIATE KARKAT. Even though he doesn't seem to show it sometimes and he gets on his nerves and shit and tries his patience so hard, that's mainly because he just cares about him as a friend and all, and he really does that to a lot of people.

Since he's like 14 and it's honestly expected from him because EVERYONES STILL KIDS ITS GREAT. AND EVERYHTIGN WOW.

but oh god whenever karkat told him that before the dance.

he just ufkcing. he felt so great about that, like wow out of all of the things someone could have told him, it really couldn't have lifted his spirits. all of that happiness and the relief that he gave during that conversation was entirely genuine. He felt like he really got back a good friend that day, and fuck everything if that day if he didn't just lay in the pile for a while with a really happy look on his face. ;;

And especially whenever Karkat was protecting him from Kanaya, man that just. made him feel really happy BECAUSE MAN. JUST. MAN. sob.

And now for that awful crush he has on him. Yes. That one, the one that he'll forever have on him that he has on a good percentage of the homestucks. (meaning hgiher bloods and like idk a few humans but not many) Many of them have fizzled but time and time again he finds himself coming back to karkat. Evne though he's kind of given up trying for anyhting but that friendship going on, deep in the back of his mind he still wonders.

though even if he did try to do anything he's too much of a chicken to even try because of that awful fear of rejection and how many times he's been rejected. so yeah. and you know... m...maybe gamzee will come back, you know his gamzee. and even though you know, he told himself that he would move on if he left, he still has a bit of hope to wait for him or something just in case.

but even so, he just sits back and wonders. man. what if?

but it's not the overall thing with him. he still treats him the same, lingering thoughts aside. it's just another thought that he wasn't able to act upon, just like the rest of the crushes he's had that left without him saying anything. ;;

he also knows that if he does try kanaya might RIP HIS HEAD OFF OR SOMETHING hesn ot even sure and even though he's not going to show it he's still slightly terrified out of his wits towards her but. man. OH WELL HIS LOSS right?

so yeah. maybe not the best leader, but the best karkat in his opinion.

Karkat has Eridan feelings. They are bro feelings, but they are feelings nonetheless. Because Karkat hasn't lived through Murderstuck, and he honestly thinks that death doesn't matter if he can get everyone to Sacrosanct, it means he's more willing to forgive bullshit. Also he's Karkat, which is more reason for him to forgive bullshit. That's just what Karkats do.

Eridan hasn't tried to kill anyone lately, which is a big plus (while Karkat was around for the first Shodan shit, he was brand new to Sacrosanct and never got all the details), and it's just kinda ridiculously depressing to see someone so alone, like Eridan is. Karkat must care for his gaggle of idiots, which includes Eridan. It is his destiny. Which means, while he'll take Kanaya's side in any arguments Eridan might have with her, he'll still defend Eridan. BITCH AIN'T GETTIN KILLED ON MY WATCH SONNNN.

It helps that Eridan is into gossip like Karkat is, because seriously WHO ELSE CAN KARKAT GOSSIP ABOUT ROMANCE AND DRAMA WITH. Karkat genuinely enjoys having someone to gossip and bitch about stuff with. It is ridiculously fun. Also while he pretends to hate Eridan's romance drama, he actually likes talking about it and trying to figure out solutions to Eridan's romproblems. Karkat's surprised about this. If anyone told him a year ago that Eridan would be one of his besties, Karkat would have socked them in the face and laughed.

Oh god ok get ready for all those bittersweet Serenade-style feelings.

Nepeta is in love with Karkat. She is head over heels, doodling their names together in a heart on her notebooks, schoolgirl giggling flushed for him. She's been this way long before either of them were ever thrown onto Sacrosanct, but little things have happened on the station that make her think that maybe she actually has a chance here. The original Terezi is busy being hearts with the coolkid and Karkat's relationship with the other one is up in the air. It's enough to keep that desperately flickering flame of hope in her alive, as she looks pretty much anywhere she can for a little confirmation.

That said, she's still far too shy to ever broach the subject with him. The idea of being rejected terrifies her, less because she thinks that she's a super great catch anyone would be lucky to have and more because she knows down deep in her heart that she'd never really be able to get over her feelings for him and that she wouldn't even be able to have the satisfaction of being catty (haha) over whoever he does end up flushed for because it would likely be one of her best friends. She really and truly wants the best for him (and Terezi, if that's who he wants) and would never consider doing anything to stand in the way of that.

So, she keeps her crush to pictures and daydreams and maybe sometimes some roleplay sessions where the names have been changed and Karkat is actually a giant pincerbeast guarding the pathway to the Fountain of Cute.

Even outside of her crush, however, Karkat is one of her dearest friends no matter what he says to the contrary. She loves spending time with him and getting him to do silly things like the Tea Party of Thrones or just teasing him a little. She'd do anything for him without question, including putting her life on the line if he asked her to. Probably even if he didn't and she thought it was necessary, really.

Nepeta doesn't respect him as a leader in the way that she thinks his decisions are the best and his speeches the most charismatic, thus making him the logical superior choice to lead their merry band of idiots. However, she does trust him completely as a friend and is willing to follow his direction because she knows that whatever decision he makes is done with the good of the group at its core, whatever Karkat might say otherwise.

Without Equius here she might not follow his lead one hundred percent of the time if she sees an opportunity to be more helpful by disobeying him, but it's never done with any sort of maliciousness. She just wants to make his job a little easier for him so that he can stop stressing so damn much.

tl;dr Nepeta is content just getting to spend time with Karkat on the station because he's a wonderful friend who cares about the people close to him even if he won't admit it and she loves him for it.

TEREZI HE IS STILL NOT OVER YOU. Because Karkat is obsessive and a little bit creepy and just has so many goddamn feelings, he doesn't know what to do with them. Terezi is the equivalence of--

Wait, backstory about Linda's life. When I was in 9th grade, I had a crazyass ex-marine history teacher. One day, we were watching the Scarlet Pimpernel in class because french revolution etc etc. There was one scene, where the woman, who is in love with the Scarlet Pimpernel, rebuffs her suitor's advances. There's only about a two second close up on the rejected suitor's face, but that was enough. My teacher paused the video right there, laughed with glee, and explained to us that, "This is the face of a man who has just had his heart torn out of his chest by the girl of his dreams. She tore it out, took a big bite of it, and was like, "Hahah, you won't be needing this anymore!" before throwing it against the wall with all the might of the Japanese flyers from Tora, Tora, Tora!" He then proceeded to rewind and play the scene over and over and over again for the rest of the class time we had left, which was about 30 minutes. He laughed the whole time.

Karkat is the French nobleman suitor, except he isn't French and he isn't noble.

Terezi, in his mind, is the ultimate failure in everything he does. Like, he'll lie in his pillow fortress with a tiny smile on his face because, hey, today was a really good day. But then he's just like, "Except for the fact that everything you do is failure, I mean, come on, remember Terezi?" which, of course, sends him back into his usual bouts of self-loathing and teen aged angst. In the romance regard, it's actually starting to become less about Terezi not liking him romantically and more about his own failures and reasons to hate himself. It also provides a lot of complication with his feelings for the other Terezi because HOLY SHIT WHAT IF I DON'T ACTUALLY LIKE HER HER, WHAT IF IT'S THE OTHER TEREZI AND I AM JUST FORCING FEELINGS ON HER??? IS THAT EVEN A THING? I DON'T FUCKING KNOW BUT IT'S PROBABLY HAPPENING.

Besides the romance bullshit, Karkat trusts Terezi more than anyone (besides Kanaya). Not just in the "she can see me weak, she can know my secrets," but in the "If I am failing to get shit done, she'll pick up the slack and/or kick my ass into gear." She's one of the few competent assholes he knows, and goddamn, he's so fucking grateful for it. Ridiculously grateful. He honestly sits around thinking about how Terezi would have probably made a better leader than he did, especially after he started finding out all about Murderstuck. But he'll never admit this out loud.

Because she wants the people closest to her to be happy. And if that means putting away some of the things that would make her happy that's ok too, because they deserve it.
