This is all Amanda's fault :I

There is entirely too much trauma on this space station lately. Which means it's time for the

Broken Elevator Meme!

...Yeah.
  • Your character is riding on an elevator when - oh no - it breaks down and stops! How unexpected.
  • Oh look, someone else is in there with them. How about that.
  • That elevator isn't going to move until your thread amasses at least ten comments. MAYBE MORE.
  • Commence arguing/going stir-crazy/making out to relieve the tension/all of the above.
  • Agree to never speak of this again (and just use the stairs in future).

To achieve the correct atmosphere for this meme, I highly recommend these tracks. HAVE FUN~ :B

[ You just can't make this shit up.

Excuse him while he presses the Emergency Call button. Cool as a cucumber.
]

Hello?

[ ... No answer? Really? Really. ]

[You have fun pushing that emergency button, Ed. Sam is just going to be over here, not attempting to be helpful at all.]

Oh, that's just perfect.

[ Way to be, Sam. Way to be. ]

You think?

[ His tone is appropriately ice cold and sharp. He doesn't even try to act like he isn't bothered by the fact that he's trapped in here with Sam of all people. The world is obviously working against him.

He leans away from the panel and narrows his eyes at it. The thing is obviously not a big help.
]

[Look at it this way: do you really want Sam in your personal space even more than he is already, Ed? No? Okay then.

He'll just be over here on this side of the elevator, fiddling with his wearable. After a couple of seconds of fiddling with settings, Sam glances over at Ed. He doesn't want to admit his plan idea isn't working to Dillinger... but he wants to be stuck in this elevator with him even less.]

Got a signal?

[identity profile] mostsecure.livejournal.com 2011-03-22 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
[ The elevator is hardly enough space for two people as it is. It's definitely not enough space for two people to hate each other in.

Ed glances down, running two fingers over the sleek piece of technology. The signal's faint. Enough to grab the attention of the nearest transmission -- which would be Sam or Hypatia, but Hypatia's clearly not listening. The two of them are close enough in the enclosed space (despite being on opposite sides of it) to see each other's wearables if held up to the light, so Ed flashes his.
]

Apparently. But it's not strong enough.

[ Who the hell designed these elevators. ]

Great. Any other bright ideas?

[Sam's already eying the emergency exit set in the ceiling. Yes, that would ordinarily be a terrible idea, but they're rapidly running out of options--and Sam's never met a terrible idea he didn't like.]

[identity profile] mostsecure.livejournal.com 2011-03-23 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
[ Ed barely resists rolling his eyes. He sees you considering the ceiling exit, Sam, and the answer is no. ]

We could... attempt to pry the doors open.

[ And without waiting for confirmation on that point, he moves past the panel and fits his fingernails into the crack sealing the doors shut. ]

[identity profile] smellslikejail.livejournal.com 2011-03-23 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
[You have fun with that, Ed. Sam is just going to push up on that emergency exit... and push up again. And again.

It's not budging. Neither are the doors to the elevator itself.]

... well, shit.

[Even the emergency exits are broken now, which means Sam is well and truly trapped in an abnormally small elevator with someone he'd rather not be trapped with. Joy.]

[identity profile] mostsecure.livejournal.com 2011-03-23 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
[ Loathe as he is to give up on anything, it becomes incredibly clear the doors are locked and sealed tight. There's no reason why the ceiling exit should be any different, so he doesn't glance behind him when he hears Sam struggling with the hatch. They're sealed in.

This day was just getting better and better.

Jaw clenched, he turns and lets his hands fall from the door. Maybe he can...
]

Calm down, and hold on.

[ He tries to bring up the source code for the elevator's execution status on the wearable. If it's hackable, he might be able to get them moving oh goddammit Hypatia.

They're locked out and in at the same time in two different ways. Unbelievable.
]

... Forget it.

[ Now what. ]

[identity profile] smellslikejail.livejournal.com 2011-03-23 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
[Sam gives the panel one final push, although at this point it's really more like a punch than anything else.

Unsurprisingly, it doesn't work.

... it doesn't actually make him feel better, either.]

So. Now what?

[It's more of a rhetorical question than anything; obviously the answer is "sit here and wait for Hypatia to stop being totally batshit and turn the elevator on again".]

[identity profile] mostsecure.livejournal.com 2011-03-23 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
[ Ed's not too fucking happy, either, but he's not punching things yet. Relax. ]

That should be obvious.

[ For your safety and comfort, it is advised to take that tone to mean are you serious? and also shut up. ]
