This is all Amanda's fault :I
There is entirely too much trauma on this space station lately. Which means it's time for the
Broken Elevator Meme!
...Yeah.
Broken Elevator Meme!
...Yeah.
- Your character is riding on an elevator when - oh no - it breaks down and stops! How unexpected.
- Oh look, someone else is in there with them. How about that.
- That elevator isn't going to move until your thread amasses at least ten comments. MAYBE MORE.
- Commence arguing/going stir-crazy/making out to relieve the tension/all of the above.
- Agree to never speak of this again (and just use the stairs in future).

Don't worry, I'm not gonna start fiddling around without knowing what I'm doing.
[He places the cover on the floor and peers into the elevator's inner workings.]
Juuuuust taking a look.
no subject
And what exactly are you looking for?
no subject
Well, hopefully I'll be able to see what the problem is.
Unless you'd like to stay here forever...?

What are we looking for?
That big blue lever right there?
LMAO
...Uh.
[He barely manages to grab Pleakley's wrist and pull it back in time.]
Nooooo, I don't...I don't think so. Just give me a second here, all right?
I promise not to kill us.
[With one more bewildered look over at Pleakley, he turns and peers into the mess of wires again.]
...I'm Geordi, by the way.
HE CAN TELL YOU'RE UNDRESSING HIM WITH YOUR EYES AND IT MAKES HIM UNCOMFORTABLE
Hey! [minutest of pauses] That's no way to treat a lady! [grabs his SKINNY-LIKE-DEATH wrist back with a HARUMPH]
Fine Geordi, I'm Miss Pleakley. [More pause]
What about that little red button behind all the black and yellow, black and yellow, black and yellow wires? The one with the little glass case around it, and the even tinier hammer attached with a bow?
Because that looks like something you'd only push in an emergency. And this is definitely an emergency.
GEORDI WOULD NEVER
[He means it, if Pleakley's really offended...but he's also starting to get the tiniest bit irritated. Geordi turns to face Pleakley instead of the panel for a moment.]
Listen...Miss Pleakley. I see it, but it's not an emergency yet, okay? Just give me a minute and maybe we can get this working again without breaking any glass.
[The sooner, the better.]
no subject
So if this isn't an emergency yet, what, Geordi, would make this situation any worse?
no subject
Once he's done, he glances back over at Pleakley, his smile a little more pasted on now.]
It'll be an emergency if I check and decide I can't fix it.
Okay?
[And without waiting for an answer, he turns back to the panel, reaching in to poke at the wires, scanning as efficiently as he can for the problem.]
no subject
What if I think it's emergency time huh?
no subject
-Aha.
[He looks up, smiling, as the elevator hums back to life.]
no subject
[And then then elevator shoots in the absolute wrong direction]
OH THANK YOU VERY MUCH THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I HAD HOPED WAS GOING TO HAPPEN!
