Liara used to be a little uncomfortable around Ashley because Ashley wasn't afraid to mess with her and Liara doesn't have a fucking sense of humor. Years later, Liara has grown some social skills and can make it through a conversation without embarrassing herself (even if Ms. Paleontologist over here still doesn't know how to take a joke).
She doesn't really hold Horizon against Ashley -- she knows Ash is Alliance to the core, and if Liara hadn't been the one who delivered Shepard to Cerberus in the first place, she would have been suspicious, too. And it's not like Liara dropped everything to join up on a suicide mission, either. But she does kind of :/ when thinks about how undiplomatically the whole situation was treated. In any case, she knows Ash and Shep made up and hugged it out, so w/e w/e, it's none of her business.
She's pretty appreciative of how blunt and straight forward Ash is. I imagine it is ludicrously difficult to get a straight answer out of an asari, especially those embroiled in the power politics and information games that Liara has had to fuck around with for the last few years, and Ash is kind of a welcome change (as long as she isn't asking about asari sex).
Ash is crew, and Ash is original crew. She wouldn't take a bullet for her -- she'd make sure the bullet never arrived at all, whether by threatening/blackmailing the gunman or by biotic barrier.
