This is all Amanda's fault :I
There is entirely too much trauma on this space station lately. Which means it's time for the
Broken Elevator Meme!
...Yeah.
Broken Elevator Meme!
...Yeah.
- Your character is riding on an elevator when - oh no - it breaks down and stops! How unexpected.
- Oh look, someone else is in there with them. How about that.
- That elevator isn't going to move until your thread amasses at least ten comments. MAYBE MORE.
- Commence arguing/going stir-crazy/making out to relieve the tension/all of the above.
- Agree to never speak of this again (and just use the stairs in future).

[After a few moments of silence and about a solid minute of not moving, Shepard drums her fingers against her armor.
The music was getting on her last nerve and she was in here with one of the...armored group. UNSC? Fantastic.]
So, which one are you? Don't know your color coding well enough to pick out names.
no subject
[ SIGH. ]
Texas. And I'm not with them.
[ Since that could apply to Spartans, current Freelancers, UNSC forces, or humans in general. ]

[Sounds vaguely familiar, but that's nothing new. Shepard arches a brow and goes with it. It's not the worst code-name she's ever heard, after all.]
Right, well, that's good to know.
Don't suppose you can repair elevators, can you?

The circuitry here is way beyond hotwiring a tank, unfortunately, and she stares at it uselessly. ]
...not this one.
Shepard, isn't it?

The other one's a little more friendly, but I make up for it with charisma. [She was kidding, probably. It's hard to tell with deadpan.]

I don't think I'd tolerate a clone running around, myself.
no subject
Can't say I enjoy the idea, but you really can't get a better recommendation than being cloned off the commanding officer. [Jamison wasn't a clone, but that really didn't matter.]
[The elevator still wasn't moving.]
I get the feeling we're going to be in here a while.

I wouldn't stand for it. There's only of me and that's how it should stay.
[ Granted she's got her own reasons why, like a buried memory of a vault full of identical copy bodies. Does nothing for her Humanity Issues. ]
[ dubiously, ]
I could pry the doors apart.
no subject
[Shepard regards the doors and then Tex. It was worth a shot, and it beat standing around doing nothing.]
I'll give you a hand.
Got anything we can jam between them for leverage?
no subject
[ Sure she could scratch the hell out of her gauntlets ripping at the seam, but why bother when she was reasonably sure she could punch a hole straight through and create a handhold that way. This elevator was hardly military grade, after all. ]
no subject
Someone wanted to clear an obstacle out of her path? All on their own? Shepard had no problem with that.]
no subject
Give her a few moments to get her fist back through, and start shoving the doors apart to the tune of protesting metal.
Oh look, it's a concrete wall. ]
no subject
Shepard arched a brow but didn't comment. She'd gotten the doors open with impressive speed, even if the end result was...ineffective. She stared for a moment and then looked up at the ceiling and the access panel there. If there was a concrete wall, they were between floors.]
Well that burns lateral as an option, and I'd prefer we avoid down.
no subject
I'm taking the stairs next time.
[ Guess they're going on a climbing adventure. Tex stows her helmet idk and scowls up at the access panel. ]
After you, I guess.

There's about a three second pause before
ceilingShepard leans over the opening.]If you left your grappling hook in your other armor, we have a problem.
