Ten years later, humanity and the synthetic life on the station are at odds
Hypatia has inducted as many citizens of Sacrosanct into a private military and launched
an all-out war against organic life and the people of Asphodel.
Some were kept on the station as captives, some escaped down planet-side
to become part of the resistance, and countless others were re-purposed into
Hypatia's willing slaves.

Now, tensions are at a peak and both sides are preparing for a throwdown. Skirmishes break out on the station and planet. Many of Hypatia's prisoners have been freed, but many more have fallen to the clutches of reprogramming.

Where will you be?

How this works:
-If you are synthetic or part-synthetic, OR if you have special armor (Looking at you, Spartans, Troncast, EVERY ROBOT EVER) you are a target for re-purpose.
You can still have escaped down to the planet, but she'll be after you. Going to the station is dangerous, once you enter her wide-area-network you are at risk of being hacked

-If you are fully organic, you are either dead, kept prisoner and made to work on the station, or part of the resistance on Asphodel.

-Anything in-between? You decide. Be creative with this.

-Fill out the form below to give us an idea of what your character is up to, what happened to them etc. Thread with each other! RP it out!

-Also, bring in your extra journals! There won't be the same people on the station ten years from now! If you're planning to app someone, or just have something interesting lying around, toss them in!

[ He'd known York wasn't himself -- they all knew it, whether or not they wanted to admit it to his face. Losing Delta had changed York -- maybe not as much as Epsilon had Wash, but far more than something he could just pass off as nothing.

He'd been trying to keep it together, though, they all had, and any lapses York had were understandable given the circumstances. Even so, Wash can't help but think he should have fucking known York would try something like this, no matter how much he wishes he wouldn't.

He doesn't think about it, doesn't have the time to -- all he has to see is the chip plugged into the slot in the back of his head, the wires coming out of it, and Wash is behind him in a moment, yanking it out and squeezing York's shoulder tight. ]

He sighs. Sollux is right-- proving his point by providing information too. Karkat needs the warning system if he wants to survive. He pulls the ear piece out of his pocket (he had been carrying it-- that counts for something, right?), hooks it up, and sighs again. But with more umph.

"Alright, happy? It's in, I can hear you whispering your sweet information in my noise receptors, and my ass is moving. Maybe you can hear that too."

He doesn't sound very distressed.

"Thup, man."

Dave ducks under the door into Karkat's makeshift respiteblock, not really bothering to knock. Why bother? Karkat will probably scream as usual, and he'll just shrug it off, and then they'll be back to some semblance of normalcy. It's not like there's been any real hate there for the past few years - smaller hates tend to dwindle away over time, especially when partnership is required.

She's there behind him, unmoving.

They fight a lot -- and everywhere, something that part of her looks forward to. The thrill of battle, you can't catch me! and the ringing of steel against steel, snarls and gashes and biting and blood, everywhere. Though she doesn't think she can bleed any more, not really; whatever spills out isn't hers to claim, it's Hypatia's.

Today the order is simple: assassinate. Leave no survivors. But there's still part of her that's upset don't hurt dave! and there are flashes of simpler times, curling up on the couch and playing video games, sleepovers in the middle of the hallway, swimming together.

So she just stands there.
"You need a haircut Dave, do you want me to give you on-- o-one? O-or do you want me to take your eyes out instead?"

She makes no move.

"I can see it," Sollux corrects him. "You know how I love to watch your fine ass running along. Be a little more careful this time, okay? I worry about you, and when it's out past my sensors I can't help much."

He pauses, then sighs, as if remembering that's something you do at a moment like this. "Signature's big. Might be another worm. It's really annoying trying to come up with anti-worm measures, damn."
hedgehogengine: (That shit ain't gonna fly.)

Sonic

[personal profile] hedgehogengine 2012-02-06 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Sonic
Current location: Asphodel/Sacrosanct
Current Physical Appearance: He's taller, but he'll pretty much never be the size of a normal human the same age as him. Between 20 and 30, Sonic really doesn't look that different.
Summary: Never one to stay in one place for too long, Sonic didn't stick around on Asphodel for very long after escaping the station. He only stayed long enough to gather intel he needed to know where Hypatia was keeping her prisoners and how to get them out, and he was headed back to Sacrosanct on the first shuttle he could find. This proved to be the first instance of what would soon become a pattern. He goes to Sacrosanct, frees as many prisoners as he can, and gets them back down to Asphodel, or just makes as much havoc as possible on the station (startlingly easy when your body is essential a giant cannon ball) to create cover for others to escape. Then, he waits on Asphodel for the heat to die down a little, and goes back.

He's on Asphodel quite a bit, but even then, he's never there for very long. As the skirmishes have started to escalate into ferocity and rescue missions have started to thin out, when he's not fighting, Sonic has taken to exploring the planet, sometimes for days at a time, seemingly unfettered by Asphodel's hostile environment. As time goes on, he's become more determined not to slow down unless it's necessary. Anything to keep his feet moving.

[personal profile] hybridharvester 2012-02-06 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Micah
Current location: Asphodel
Current Physical Appearance: His human form is bigger and has the mandatory action stubble along with various battle scars. His Wooly form looks basically the same... except that it, too, has the mandatory action stubble. Which is weird, because, you know, not human.
Summary: He hadn't trusted the station's motives in a long time. When they came for him, he was prepared. Well, somewhat. They did manage to catch him by surprise. But there's no good way to overtake someone who has long had an escape button and been in the habit of using it. (They now know that he can only teleport towards his home, but they won't be able to take over his house as easily this time, since it's not in the middle of their territory anymore.)

He doesn't believe anyone genuinely wants to work for Hypatia, since as far as he can tell, her goal is literally "kill all organics because", and who the heck would support that? (Clearly he hasn't met everyone on the station.) Accordingly, he considers it his mission to break her control over as many people as he can. So far, he has freed zero people, because he has no idea how she's controlling them in the first place aside from "something with computers", and, yeah, still not good with computer.

He's also one of the go-to guys for anything that's likely to involve fighting. He's surprisingly good at nonlethal takedowns, for someone whose fighting experience consisted primarily of "beat it up until the magic keeping it here breaks", which obviously no longer applies.

Name: Shockwave
Current location: Asphodel
Current Physical Appearance: The scruffiest Shockwave ever. With the fluffiest fluff hair of fluff in the universe.
Summary:
Being morally ambiguous is both beneficial and not when war breaks out. Combine that with being a former military operations commander and you get Shockwave.

Since the chaos Shockwave has become much more secluded from everyone, much preferring to remain by himself and work on weaponry. He dislikes Hypatia and he dislikes most of the people on the planet, so there was no point in picking a side when half the time he wanted to kill the people he was working with. He's cranky about this whole ordeal.

Instead he works by himself, perfectly fine with offering up weapons to either side - given they can afford his prices. Those he actually likes have a much easier time getting things from him for free.

There's a long pause as Jade's mind figures out what to say next. Usually they're fighting by now -- sickle swinging, rifle out, battering each other to pieces. But this is talking, such as a friend might do. Casual conversation.

"If I remember you run away no gotdammit beaten up pretty badly." It's a glitch, her body's trying to do both things at once so it comes out mangled and run together. If he could see her face, he'd see it drawn up in concentration, uncertainty. "Did you come back to let me do it again i told you not to come for me, huh?"

The prickling feeling in his skin, his fins flattening against his neck, the various parts of his body that shouldn't be there pumping bile and hate and adrenaline - those are his first warning, without fail. His second warning is the sharp crackle of static in the back of his mind, Sollux's voice conveying information faster than any voice or language could possibly convey, and so by the time Jade speaks he's already completely ready for what's going to happen.

"I'm fine with the one you gave me last time," he says far more coolly than he feels he really can, and before he's even finished that sentence he is back, swinging from behind her in a blow he know will miss. He just watched it, after all.

Time slows to an absolute crawl. He can see every tiny movement he makes, every flicker of electricity bridging through Jade. He can see the air being cut through, rushing to fill its own gap.

He will not let anyone die. Not him, not his friends, not the resistance, and least of all Jade.

Congratulations, you goddamn robo-hating psycho. Today is the day you finally find Jack, stuffed waaaay in the back of some Sacrosanct lab behind a locked door and same safes. You'll have to excuse him for the lack of proper greetings, since a) he doesn't have any knives with him, and b) all his external robotics are deactivated so he can't really... move. Or see. Or do much of anything. He's basically just a head on a scarred-up torso filled/covered with robobits.

This is kind of a shitty reunion.

"Alright, I've got it. It's just a fucking worm. You don't need to worry. I'm a big grub now, surprise! I can take care of it on my own." Despite his words, he's replacing his sickles for Sollux's Anti-Worm Bullshit Blow Things Up device (Karkat's name for it, obviously).

"I'll come visit you when I'm done out here. How's that sound?"
derpbert: (unlikely hero (default))

[personal profile] derpbert 2012-02-06 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
Name: John Egbert (AU)
Current location: Sacrosanct
Current Physical Appearance: John's not exactly an imposing figure, but he is 23 years old. He has shaggy black hair, thin silver wire-framed glasses that at some point replaced his old clunky black shades, some constant stubble (more than you'd think John could put out), and quite the number of scars all over him. He peaked at about 5'11", and he's filled out nicely - not muscular or sturdy, but less "gawky teenager", at least.
Summary: John escaped to Asphodel, and joined the resistance. This was to be expected. He went on raids aplenty - not as many as Dave, but almost. He only got killed a couple of times, and thankfully someone was able to get to his body to make sure he didn't get left on the station - revivals happen, since normal heat-of-combat deaths aren't really especially heroic, even if the rebellion itself is.

But then, oh then, not even that many months ago, without thinking of the consequences, he dove in the way and took a blow meant for one of the other resistance fighters - maybe it was someone he knew, maybe not. But the thing is, it was extremely heroic. He died.

But of course, even the rebellion has used the teleporters a few times - it was unavoidable, if they wanted to get further into the station. And while they might have been able to hack them so that Hypatia can't strand them... she can still get at the data.

Once they were gone, she re-formed him, and set him to work doing... well, whatever it is she needs slaves to do. Dismantling things. growing and harvesting food for the organic or part-organic residents of the station, perhaps. Or maybe just a lot of torture and trying to get the secrets of the rebellion out of him. Probably the last one, mostly.

John is alive, and he's pretty sure his friends don't even know it.

[She'd been putting the groceries away - everything may have gone to shit, they may be scraping by just trying to keep each other from falling apart, but some things haven't changed. They can't live on just the cans and cans of nonperishables stored away in the basement, and sometimes, they need to go out and buy fresh food, just like before.

Well, maybe not just like before. They'd paid for the fruits and veggies she's stowing away with ammo, not cash.

Except she turns after closing the fridge - thank god for the generator - to find that Wash has disappeared from the kitchen, and before she can wonder where he's gone there's yelling from down the hall.

She dashes for it, swinging to a stop in the doorway and still holding the doorjamb tight, staring in bewilderment.]

She can sense the attack as soon as he moves a muscle, eyes reading the space between them, mind jumping to the perfect time to teleport away. But she doesn't go far; a few feet away, still staring at him, making no move to attack him, herself. He will fight and he will miss, as always. It's practically a game now, this game of Space and Time.

( somewhere in the back of her mind she remembers a time when Space and Time worked together in harmony, a long time ago )
and then she blocks out the memory and focuses on
kill him kill him kill him kill him

"I-iiiiiiiit's useless, Dave are you really going to do this again?"

( space and time space and time you could run away with him he would take you home
home
home home home home )

And then she yells at herself, for no reason that Dave would understand unless he's hacked into the system, seen her blueprints. Her messy imperfections.

He's not fighting, and by extension he's not really doing anything. He tries to talk to people, sometimes, tries to keep up what amounts to a normal life, but when it comes down to it every single second spent not fighting is a second he figures he's wasting.

So he decides to find a fight. In a flash, he's out of the resistance base, flying upwards at an alarming speed and surveying the planet's surface for any threats.

Sollux.

The bridge connects, almost faster than his reflexes can process (microseconds? nanoseconds? he only barely feels the tiny jolt across his mind), and his thought is relayed instantly to the presence he calls moirail.

He's not here!

[ Wash only spares Sarah the slightest glance as she comes to the dor, all of his attention on York. He reaches out to grab his other shoulder automatically, trying to keep him from jerking up and out of his grip and ignoring the way it tugs at the ache in his shoulder, still bruised from the mess they'd been in last week.

He knows what York was doing -- what he was trying to do, and he can understand, but that doesn't mean he can let him do it.

Wash bends over him, still holding him tight, but his voice is softer, finding his gaze and holding it. ]

"Frankly, I'm fucking tired of fighting you. It's total bullshit, and neither one of us is ever going to win. I'm not even here to fight-- I'm never here to fight. I'm just here for you, and I'm going to keep being here for you until you come back with me." Karkat pauses, his shoulders tensed. She blinks and furrows her brows. Karkat... Karkat... She bites into her lower lip but the pain doesn't help the memory and the thought slips away. "Karkat? Did we have an arrangement? I must have missed it. That's dreadfully rude of me, actually."

She was taught better then that. Wasn't she?

"Hungry. Frustrated. Nostalgic. Sometimes I am even morose and distraught." She seems to take a measure of pride in this, in feeling feelings. The pride goes away when Sollux reminds her of Hypatia. "She is simply disappointed. I seem to have failed her due to my inability to permeate the barrier you have set around these tunnels. She sends less blood because of my failures. It matters little. I have learned to go longer and longer periods without, and I enjoy our conversations, Mustard."

Jack can't see her come in, but he's used to the sound her teleporting makes by now. She's one of the very few who actually bothers to make sure he's still alive every now and then. Same as always.

He clears his throat, turning his head in the direction he thinks she's in. "Back from your trip already?"

He appreciates the company, really. But sometimes he wishes she wouldn't come back. Maybe they could find a way to fix her, back on Asphodel...

[personal profile] mcfussyfangs 2012-02-06 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
She waits for him a lot, and never really knows why. He is, according to Hypatia, a high priority assassination target. But there's this feeling, it's a pale feeling, which is ridiculous because there is no such thing. Feelings aren't colors or hues or shades, but then again, Kanaya doesn't know what feelings are anymore. They are these difficult to define foggy yearnings that vanish so quickly sometimes that she isn't even sure they were there.

She remembers him so much more clearly than most, though her recollections are often murky at best. Remembers his symbols and his yelling and sometimes his color. Colors. Always switching between burning red and dull grey. Sometimes she even remembers the way his blood tasted, bright and painful and then comforting and warm. So sometimes she waits for him, and sometimes she follows him. It's a massive waste of blood, these little excursions, mostly due to the frequency with which she takes them. Even when she has none in supply she still goes out to watch him. It might explain why Kanaya has found herself stranded and famished, curled into a tight ball in an off-shoot tunnel trying to will her body into not shutting down.
